That is a boar, Hence why it is sooo huge!

No, that's a large pig. http://i1.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article ... ld-hog.jpg that's a boar. Boar's have very different heads and are MUCH bigger than that.

A little large to take with a .223 cal rifle I hope he was in a tree.

are those dwarves carrying pikes?

Could just be spears that look like pikes due to their height, or lack thereof

Looks like Pikes. I know it says in the back of the Hobbit rules book that a Dwarf equipped with Pike is the same pts as a WoE with Spear & Shiled (page 100)

I wouldn't hunt that without at LEAST a 50 cal.

Hmm, my father has been a in the pig industry for over 40 years and says a Boar is simply an uncastrated male Pig and can vary massively in size and weight. Very powerful and dangerous animal, nearly been killed by one once so wouldn't want to meet iton the battlefield. Nice pic though :yay:

That is the only weapon Dain uses in the movie. I saw the movie early this morning

@rygor that picture is from an old production video, the weapons are much longer in the movie IIRC. They carry pikes.

I guess technically it's a boar, I was just hoping or a wild boar, not a domesticated one.

Yeah I agree with you I was hoping for the wild boar although they would be difficult to domesticate so probably realistic on PJ's part. And after seeing the movie it is even smaller than I first thought, still effective though haha I loved Dain

I haven't see the film yet (local cinema has the most awful show times) but I honestly thought the story about Dain riding into battle on a piggie was some sort of joke...

I did at first but it honestly worked for his character. Also made it a good contrast between himself and Thranduil.
