So here we have a photo of the contents page for White Dwarf Weekly #46, which I think you'll agree provides an interesting read!

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JUk10aCvlj0/V ... 600/01.jpg

So, next week we can expect to preorder =

Bard the Bowman, Girion's Heir (2 miniatures) £27
Bold, Castellan of Mount Gundabad (2 miniatures) £27
Azog, Lieutenant of Sauron (1 miniatures) £15

There are two things here that interest me, Bard having two miniatures (possibly one mounted judging by the price), and yet I don't think he's ever on horseback in the film. Secondly, the single Azog mini which will hopefully surpass the meagre quality of the first foot/mounted version. Unfortunately this version will probably come with battle-armour and his new giant claw thingy, but I can live with that.

Bolg will possibly be a must-buy for me too, providing the sculpt is good enough, as even without his bloodstained beard I still prefer him to Azog.

Feel free to muse upon these findings, and post pictures when they appear!

My bad, found the leaked images... sadly I hate every miniature. Oh how quickly my appetite has been ruined. I might still buy Bolg though, I'm sure a small amount of converting will sort out his dodgy proportioning and facial features (especially the warg-mounted version). :(

Well Bolg actually looks good but I will admit that Azog looks like he is dancing (though I understand what pose they were going for), and Bard is just a horrible sculpt. His mounted model is truely terrible though.

Yeah even though this topic is almost null and void based on the others I still appreciate the pics. A nicer look and also prices! That was good.

I fear with every new set prices may change. I was happy to see Bolgs price and the news about the rules set.

Hmm...I'm a bit annoyed Azog isn't wearing his Armour!

& FYI there are a few scenes in the film where Bard is mounted :E

I thought we'd be getting Azog in armour and with his sword-arm. Honestly I'm glad they didn't do the sword-arm, but I'll miss the armour. I actually really like these minis. Azog DOES look like he's dancing, but it looks athletic rather than his slow and lumbering previous pose. Never liked that one.
Bolg looks great, I must say. The pose is great, but his Warg doesn't look like it's moving. A tilt of the knees and some conversion and this would be great.
Bard mounted looks like they've gone for regal-ruler-commanding pose, rather than fighting. But GW does like a command pose now and then, and i don't really mind. Honestly the foot pose more than makes up for it, it instantly put me in the moment of the militia charge in the trailer.

I think all the releases are great, especially the new Bolg. It shows that GW are still willing to work with PJ's crazy revised schedule.

The armour and sword arm
were probably only added in the last few weeks. Nowhere near enough time to turn around a new sculpt and get it released.

Given that the Perry brothers parted company with GW long before PJ gabe Azog armour we might never see an armoured Azog.

Not sure about the Azog models specifically, but weren't quite some Hobbit hero sculpts done by other guys than de Perry twins? In that case, their departure may not be a major issue.

A fair few hero minis were by other sculptors yeah - and concerning recent information

no Dain/Iron Hills in the WD rules
, I'm willing to hold onto belief that there's a second batch coming down the line at some point, where enough time will have passed to have given Azog armour and Thranders his Elk.

Yes, just looking old White Dwarf magazines, not all were sculpted by the Perry’s:
    * Thranduil, King of Mirkwood by Edgar Ramos
    * Thrain the Broken by Israel Laborda
    * Master of Laketown by Gaku Matsubayshi
    * Alfrid the Councillor by Gaku Matsubayshi
    * Bard the Bowman by Israel Laborda
    * Lake-town Captain by Gaku Matsubayshi
    * Gandalf the Grey by Gaku Matsubayshi
    * Beorn & Bear by Edgar Ramos & Michael Perry
    * Thranduil The Elvenking by Edgar Ramos

There may be more but those are from the copies of White Dwarf I have, the last couple of issues no longer list the sculptor.

So actually quite a few Hobbit models were not sculpted by the Perry’s. There are a mix of models I like and dislike by all of the sculptors.
