you wanna compare a fluffy fur bear and a short inch half red armour dwarf to a bigger than 2 boeing size talking dragon?

Smaug merchandizing wins at every turn, goes for what people look for, they always will go for the talking dragon

Yeah. This seems like a big use of resources, but I think the advertising and hype-building that results from things like this probably justifies it.
