All right, I hate to admit it, but those dice and measuring sticks look pretty cool.
Has the price on those been released? I'm probably going to be placing an order anyway in the next month or so.

I don't think it's been announced, but that's when I was told to come in to preorder... Official enough for me :)

Pre ordering at my local store when available. Do they cost more or less than GW? Heard both, so not sure...

It depends on the store, really. They pay less than regular retail for GW items so it depends on whether they want to make a little money and sell volume or charge more and sell less.

Or if you like reading (further thanks to Jesse at the GBHL):

"-All profiles have been reviewed but not necessarily changed completely. Some have been changed more than others.
-Tweaks to magic
-New Heroic actions
-Buidling armies is radically changed
-Army special rules
-Warriors of Rohan don't change
-Minas tirith warriors gain shield wall
-New, one profile Elrond
-Balrog changed and according to comments by Jay Clare, is now seemingly competitive
-All models now have keywords
-Some special rules will only effect other warriors with similar keywords, elf standfast effecting elves but not humans etc
-Heroic Tiers
-Theoden is a hero of legend
-Heroes of legend [one per army list apparently] are meant to lead armies, warband size 18 , and additional rule for courage, *if you have a Hero of legend, on a turn you would first have to test for being broken everyone in the force will pass automatically for that turn*
-Universal heroic actions (move,shoot,combat)
-Specialized heroic actions only certain characters can do.
-Captains may lose the ability to do certain special strikes
-New actions - Heroic Resolve, Heroic Strength, Heroic Challenge, Heroic Defense (Model using heroic defense only wounded on natural 6's)
-Magic, all spells re-balanced, all powers are in the main book and all have a channeled version
-Sorcerous blast will now stop after the target model makes first contact with another model
-New spell, Protection of the Valar, caster or friendly model within three inches cannot be targeted by spells, the channeled version of this is all friendlily within three inches.
-Ally Matrix
-Historical alliances , Impossible alliances.
-Confirmed army bonuses:
Rohan- +1 strength to cav on the charge.
Ents- Fearless, Immune to all movement impeding effects and some magic.
Harad- 50% bows are still a thing, warriors and raiders get poison rule on melee weapons
Mordor- +1 courage, reroll ones when outnumber opponent
-Special strikes have been tinkered with.
-New Theoden profile, M6,F5/4, S4,D5,A2,W2,C5 Might 3, Will 3, Fate 1
-Questions from the Q&A
-Armies of the hobbit coming soon.
-Banishment spell available to more models then just Galadrial
-Sap will, will be harder to cast
-Nazgul will be changing
-Every army is a viable option.
-Every profile has weapons assigned to them! (no more Galadriel with axe!)
- Hurls now throw the model DIRECTLY AWAY.
- Army of the dead is a viable solo army (via rules like the denizens of mirkwood list)
-Warrior upgrades still around and new ones added
-Eagles a lot better, arguably better then fellbeasts
-Throwing weapons, no more -1 when throwing on the charge
-Character upgrades for models apply to only those in warband (redshields etc)
-Will there be justice for Dale? maybe....
- *When you resist a magic spell, on a roll of a natural 6 regain a point of will used while resisting for each 6 rolled*"

So hyped. As a predominantly high elf and Numenor player, I’m really excited to see what they’ve come up with. Hopefully some Nice army bonuses and a couple of nice special rules to really man the heroes feel unique.

I'm very interested in the new rules, hopefully they've changed it good. I like the fact that some heroes can have bigger warbands.
Maybe I will buy the new rule book, without te box. I've got al the models already several times (except the new Theoden Model of course..).

One question I have left: will there only be changed LotR profiles, or are Hobbit profiles also included in here?

Hobbit profiles will be changed too, the book will be released a few months down the line :)

Some of the newer models, like Guritz and Gothmog's enforcer (recently available at special events), will have their rules available as PDFs on the website when they come on general sale (like the recent upgraded Mumak). So I think that means the initial "Armies of the Lord of the Rings" book may be for the old units, with some update source books to come in the future rounding up new models. I think they might have said that there'll be a temporary PDF with the Hobbit updates to fill in until the new Hobbit book comes out later in the year.

Gandalf the White (foot and mounted) appears to have vanished from the webstore.

I wonder if this means there could be a new plastic version on the way soon? It would fit in with the Pelennor fields theme.

I'm just getting the rule books, markers, and dice. I have all the models in the box anyway (except for the new Theoden of course).

Even though the dice are similar to previous releases, I always kind of regretted not picking up more, so here's a nice opportunity.

"All armies are viable now." Let's see what they do for my Khandish army, which has been underwhelming competitively. I'd still like to see a return to their hireable mercenary rules in "Shadow in the East". Our chariots are also rubbish compared to the dwarves'.

Plastic riders of the dead would also make me happy, as would a new banner man. And a return to the Dunlendings, the hated foes of Rohan. Death to the strawheads! I'm still holding on to my wallet hoping the feral uruks will be a limited re-release.

... They've now announced a new Gandalf the White with Pippin on horseback. Nice model.

I wonder if solo Gandalf the White will come back on sale? Otherwise would add to points cost if you always have to take Pippin too. Or would you allow the model to count as just Gandalf in a tournament?

(Do people allow combined models like Arwen/Frodo or Legolas/Gimli on horse in tournaments?)
