ok, i just bought some new VMC colors today, I bought them because I've heard that they are probably the best ones in the market.

so, I started to paint today, and when I tried to thin down the a VMC color (3 drops of water)it didn't cover very well, then i tried to paint with a thicker consistency, 1 drop of water, it covered well, but for my basecoat it left the dreaded shine that a basecoat should not have, it should have a dry look.

my main question is what is the best way to thin this stuff down, especially for basecoat.
p.s. i use some flow improver to dilute, is this a no no for VMC?

thanks

I just use water and havent had a problem with shine, but it varies between colours. If you do have that you can always get some matte medium and that will take away the shine. Flow improver is fine as well I use it with all my paints.

On a side note 1 drop of paint to 1 drop water should be consistency for a basecoat.

I haven't had the shine problem, but they do sell a matt medium in one of their paint bottles. Just add a drop or 2 in with the water.
