Hello, I'm sorry if there is already a post on this, but I was wondering if anyone had some advice on painting different tones of colour on figures, I can't remember the name for what it is called at the moment

This is my attempt at boromir, (the left shoulder is where there is a light source), would you create a light source as I have here and then refer to it on other parts of the model, e.g. create aspects of light on his skirt as well as the main light on his shoulder?

I don't generally set up any sort of 'test lighting source.' I just look at the mini and decide where the highlights would fall just by eyeballing it. However, if you are planning to do something special Object Source Lighting, then I might try something like this to help you judge the highlights. If you Google "Object Source Lighting," you may be able to find some tutorials that might assist you.
