Hello everyone,
a quick question for painters : do you paint the model only when fully assembled or do you paint each element separately?

For instance, do you glue shields before painting or do you paint the model and the shield in two separate steps and glue them later?

Thanks in advance :)

I guess it depends on the model and if you can happily paint the area which the shield obscures once attached,
An example is palace guard and the old TLA elf spearmen I would paint the model and shield separately as once attached they will be difficult to paint.

Gundabads I attach the shield and then paint as I can get at the model and shield quite comfortably to paint.

Thank you for your help :)
I'm new with the painting and I don't have a lot of experience... I suppose that there is no "good" rule to apply :)

For information, I trying to paint moria goblins ;)

Moria goblins paint the shields separately as they get in the way when painting the model
