I have Éomer, Théodred and Théoden, and painting their armour is confusing me. Getting the kind of burnt red look of Éomer's leather over the mail is proving tricky; I have no idea what Théodred is supposed to look like, what's leather, what's supposed to be decoration etc isn't doing my poor little head any favours. The colour of Théoden's armour is confusing. The photo GW provides on their website makes it look positively excrement-coloured with gold detailing, but I've not really figured out how to achieve a better colour for it. Can anyone lend a hand? |

Theodred's armor is identical to Eomer's save the color. It is a muted forest green or rifle green color in the film. I hope that helps. |

For Éomer's armour I'd recommend some kind of dark terracotta (the one by Vallejo for example) where you can add a strong red (and afterwards beige) tone for highlights. Inks and shades should be handled with care to avoid covering the metal parts in between. Well, Théodred doesn't show up in the film too much but there are some production fotos on google where you can have a good look on his armor. But I think it's the 'beautiful' face of the model on foot that needs some attention. I tried painting a beard on him to cover it up but he looks more like a monkey now |

in my WIP thread I have some Theodred pics. On page 1 I have Theodred on foot, on page 2 I have him mounted I believe. http://ww.one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=28458 There's really no right or wrong way to paint him since he's not featured in the movies beyond appearing as a corpse in the Two Towers EE. |
