Hi
Just wanted to know how promotions work for rider of Rohan with throwing spear and shield. Do they also promote to outriders or is it just the Rider of Rohan with bow that does?

Thank you :)

I would think that a Rider of Rohan with throwing spear and shield could be promoted to an Outrider, but at that point could only be armed with a sword and bow. In the description of an Outrider it mentions them being exceptional riders, not the skills with weapons.

Yeah, to me Outrider seems worse than rider of Rohan with throwing spear, it’s even worth less points in the army book, so I don’t know why they made it a promotion. Is it possible to refuse a promotion or is it just how it is?

While there might be reasons to take an Outrider in a game, with the smaller troop size and playing field I don't think it makes sense in Battle Companies.

As long as it is ok with the person you are playing with, I would think you could refuse promotion - just don't re-role the dice that game to get the result you want.
