What does that say. That one of the most epicest and most exciting movies was made in my small isolated region. If it wasnt for that this website wouldnt exist lol

Can you believe that your government made New Line dismantle Minas Tirith after filming? The city would have been much more impressive than the scenery, I say.

It might still exist.. they might have decided to make minis after the book or someone else might have made the movie instead. plus New zealand isnt that small its small but its bigger than england and pretty close to the size of japan.

I can understand your excitement and patriotic spirit. It must feel cool to live near some of the locations used to shoot this superb film and even better to visit them. The mountains look magnificent and the rugged, rocky hillsides would be great for walking in.

Nope. NZ had the only location big enough that fitted Tolkien's ideal England (the shire.) :-D

People should film more movies in Canada... we really do have some fantastic scenery here. Unfortunately, we're covered in snow for half the year! In any case, New Zealand was the perfect landscape for this particular movie. So much so that hope to see your country someday!

Or they could have filmed LotR like they did the Narnia movies,in a variety of countries.

And not to burst your buble or anything, but Tolkien wrote the books long before the movies where made.I think there would still be a LotR oriented game and therefore a One Ring even if the movies hadn't been made. :)

Games Workshop created the tabletop Lord of the Rings game as a direct result of the movies. They wanted to cash in on the revival of a die-hard fanbase. So, while a game based on Lord of the Rings was inevitable, it wouldn't have happened like this without the movies.

And the movies wouldn't be the same without New Zealand; not only because they provided the best landscape for the Lord of the Rings, but because Peter Jackson was born there. :P
