hey all, i just got a bottle of simple green to strip my mini's.

i know that you put the liquid in an old plastic container then let the mini's sit in them, how long do you keep PLASTIC mini's in there?

also how long do you keep METAL mini's in there?

then i know that once they are pulled out you scrub them with an old toothbrush.

any other tips would be helpful

thanks

I presume that this works in the same manner as Dettol, in which case leave them over night. If you can't get it all off, stick them in over night again once you've scrubbed them as best you can. The more concentrated the solution is, the less time they need to soak, but over a night or two should be more than enough.

I left some metals in there for a week. The bases had no damage to them. I've again has metals in there for 1-3 weeks now (the ones from the first batch that didn't complete, plus more figs I've added since then).

I presume you can keep metals in it nearly forever with no issue, since they're metal.

I'm also using an empty coffee jar. I'd suggest a glass jar (or even a metal coffee can). Just to be safe. :)

Leaving them overnight has always been enough for me.

Well, theoretically, you can actually keep them in there indefinitely as the point of using Simpel Green/Dettol is that it doesn't effect the models themselves, whereas brake fluid can soften them. However, over night should be enough time.

ok guys, i'm going to use simple green, but i want to ask a question.

do any of you guys and gals put water with the simple green?

also, i'm going to put my metal mini's in the container over the night, and my plastic during the day for a couple of hours. Is that a pretty good time?

any way the main question was the dilution, thanks guys and gals

oh and can you reuse the same pot of simple green over and over again?

thanks guys

My experience is with Dettol and diluting. The diluting means that you use the Dettol less quickly, but it takes longer to take affect. Having said that, a ratio of 1:1 will take a night, so it's no problem. As for reuse, you can use Dettol about 3 or 4 times ;)
