Hello.

I'm going to try and build a paint station this weekend.
I've never done any wood work before but I would like to start with this rather than buying one so i get some practice before I try and build something for the game.

I've got some 9mm chip board for the base which is quite light and very strong.
For the handles, back and upper level I have some 4mm fiber board.

I am planning to make it 400mmx250mm so it fits on a laptray but can be removed for use on a desk.

I have wood glue to stick.
I was going to cut out a few 1cm strips of chip board to use as support to run allong the inside of the back pannel and to make a shelf for the upper level.

I have a drill to make holes for the brushes but am going to have trouble making a large enough hole for the cups. Files and sand paper to smooth the fiber board.

Questoins...
1 - Will wood glue and some squares of support be enough without having to nail or screw? any tips?

2 - What can I use to smooth out the edges of the chip board? It needs some sort of coating but I dont want to use polly filler as I want it to be smooth.

3 - Cutting. I have a small tooth saw, a hack saw, hobby knife and stanley knife, but I dont think the knives will be any good for this project.
I have no vice or mite block so all my cutting will be free hand.

Any tips would be greatfully recieved.
