Thanks, but I don't think this quite addresses my questions. I'm looking specifically for feedback on WOMT or ebob heads on Perry minis bodies, and I can't see anything in your posts about that. Unless I'm missing something? Thanks for the suggestion though, you've done some nice work. |

"Does anyone have any scale pics of the Fireforge knights with some lotr figures. I am thinking of maybe them with ebob heads for Dol Amroth knights." It was REDEASTON who this was intended for. He asked about Fireforge and Ebob heads. |

Just come across these which might well make a good base for Laketown militia - http://www.fireforge-games.com/webstore ... gory_id=54 They are not as cheap as some of the other historical plastics but at around £18 for 24 they are not a bad price at all. They have a good mix of bows, spears and hand weapons so mixed warbands would be easy to do. They would need a little work to make them look more laketown but no much. |

Note that "The Red Box" is a european company and should not be confused with "Red Box Games" Tre Manor's company This fellow here has a review. http://cheapfantasyminis.blogspot.fr/20 ... set-3.html Here's a pic he made of a Caesar Brand 1/72 Orc, an Alliance Orc, and a mines of Moria Goblin. Another review showing them painted is here: http://samsminisworld.blogspot.fr/2014/ ... inted.html Not nearly as nice as GW goblins, but pretty good to me, though these might be soft plastic, so you'd need to use something like "Krylon Fusion" as a base coat to get good paint adhesion. The real bonus is that it's 48 figs for $8-12 depending on where you buy them. There are also 2 other alliance orcs sets though the styling may be a bit different , and orcs on wargs are avialble in light and heavy versions. Also, half orcs which are pretty clear rip-offs of uruki, but being 1/72 they're a bit short. tried those dark alliance models but there really are too small for anything but goblins, honestly the wargs look like puppys. i'm currently using my batch as goblin town goblins (ignoring their individual gear) cause thats the only statline i thought they could reasonable go through for. So unless you are planning the same thing i wouldn't recommend them. On the other hand, they are dirt cheap... |

I found a new Forlong if anyone is having troubles. I actually like his pose better than the GW one and if youd like you can always chop off the latern and give him another cool weapon. http://red-box-games.com/index.php?main ... cts_id=120 And with a little conversion this would be an AWESOME Radagast http://red-box-games.com/index.php?main ... cts_id=240 |

Just saw these elsewhere, Wargames Factory American War of Independance Woodland Indians. Now I imagine you're thinking 'where's he going with this?', but think about this: Leave the rifles aside, swap some weapons, and paint them a different colour, you have cheap-as-chips Hunter Orcs! http://www.wargamesfactory.com/webstore/horse-and-musket/woodland-indians Can't copy the pics, but the link has shots of painted minis and of the sprue. |

Some of the Macedonian Successors could make very good proxies. For instance Hypastis Hopolites even have feathered helmets. |

That's a cool idea! I used Thracian-style hoplite helmets on Minas Tirith bodies to make my warriors of Pinnath Gelin. |

Anyone come across any suitable hobbits to add some diversity to my hobbit army? |

The halflings (and other minis) from Sgt. Major's Fantasy Heroes look like a good match, stylistically. The old Grenadier halflings, now sold by Mirliton Miniatures, are an OK match, although I think I would want to GS "hobbit pants" onto them, since those ones are wearing full-length tight pants. The blog Halfling House has a useful scale guide of halfling miniatures, too. |

GB's website seems to be updated and both links are 404'ing. |

I have been thinking a lot lately on suitable elven miniatures to represent the various important characters in my Silmarillion themed elven armies. So, here are some possible proxies from other mini manufacturers other than GW: Dark Sword: http://www.darkswordminiatures.com/shop ... sword.html http://www.darkswordminiatures.com/shop ... rrior.html http://www.darkswordminiatures.com/shop ... e-axe.html http://www.darkswordminiatures.com/shop ... -mace.html Red-box: http://red-box-games.com/index.php?main ... ucts_id=55 http://red-box-games.com/index.php?main ... cts_id=123 |

All look very doable, should fit in nicely with some of your NMM making them all pop. |
