I just picked up a copy of the new profiles, along with Tauriel, some mirkwood rangers and Beorn. I wanted to know if this army list, whilst being a troll list, would be any good.

700 Pts
Beorn
Thrandil (New hobbit one) with bow
Tauriel (with bow) plus 10 Mirkwood rangers
Halbarad with Banner

My thinking is just put Beorn in bear mode straight away, then just shoot as much as possible before combat. When it comes to combat, Halbarad's banner gives more chance of winning the fight, without being squishy and easy to pick off like other banners.

I like how Tauriels warband can easily be allied to all my old LOTR armies, but I really wanted to try and get Beorn in there too and that does not leave a lot of points for warriors.

It *feels* like this is just too small of a force, and will be swamped by large numbers too easily. But it's probably worth trying to see how it works out. Thranduil is an absolute beast (too much so IMO), so can hold his own against superior numbers for a long time.

By troll list I hope you mean trolling yourself. Looking back....I've never had a game where Beorn's points were really the best choice for those points.

Your army has many gaping weaknesses and unless youre playing an opponent who agrees to build something funny to spar with, its not going to go well for you.

Could it do SOME damage sure?

You asked if its 'good'? Nah man.

Ok thanks. I have had a second think and I still would like to play Thranduil and Tauriel, but only have a limited amount to spend on new models.

Here is my revised list to include Thranduil and Tauriel. This force has 38 models.

Tranduil on horse

Tauriel
10 Mirkwood Rangers

Damrod
8 Rangers of Gondor
3 Warrios of Minas Tirith shield and spear
Warrior of Minas Tirith with banner

Beregond
6 Knights of Minas Tirith shield
6 Warriors of Minas Tirith shield and spear

I agree on the point in that Beorn is a luxury and I think he might work best in a force with lots of models (maybe minas tirith with cheap heroes and a hero with good standfast). If I was to play Beorn, this maybe the best team? As I feel Saruman counters a lot of the downsides of Beorn. This has 35 models.

Beorn

Saruman the Wise

Damrod
8 Rangers of Gondor spear
4 Warriors of Minas Tirith shield

Beregond
5 Warriors of Minas Tirith shield and spear
7 Warriors of Minas Tirith shield

Denethor
4 Warriors of Minas Tirith shield
2 Warriors of Minas Tirith shield and spear

Might still try the original team but won't take to a tournament on what you have said (thank you), unless it turns out it does work :)

Yeah you can take that original army to a game for fun sure, but dont do it to a tournament.

The other lists look good. The new Saruman is very good.
