Hello. I am new to this board and to this game. I would greatly appreciate some help (or a lot of help) with my Lothlorien army list. I am playing with friends and I am looking to make a 700 pt list. What are you suggestions? Please give me a guide because I am lost to be honest when it comes to Lothlorien. Don't worry about the miniatures, my husband has tons of them and what we don't have we can kit bash, proxy or get eventually.

I just started painting a Lothlorien army last week. I haven't added up all the points yet, but I started with a plastic pack of 24 Galadhrim warriors, plus I bought the armoured Celeborn and Haldir pack. I also have a spare Galadriel from the Battle Games in Middle Earth magazine (still a few of these on ebay, or you can get with unarmoured Celeborn and the mirror from GW).

I reckon that gets me to somewhere a bit under 600 points. A pack of Galadhrim knights would probably then push it up to 700 points and give a bit more mobility for objective-grabbing. A pack of four Guards of the Galadhrim Court would add some nice Fight 6 to scare off most minor orc heroes.

So you can probably put together pretty quickly, as it's fairly elite. The Galadhrim Knights have a banner option too, which even though it's on horse you could just park behind the infantry lines to maximize its use.

Thx a lot! I have the 24 Galadhrim warriors almost painted! I have also ordered Celeborn and Haldir for my collection and my husband has a painted Galadriel! I don’t have knight yet, but I can proxy them temporarily with Rivendell knights and the same goes for guards as well. Which one should I go for in my next game? The royal guards or the knights? We don’t play competitively but I am a noob so I need the most forgiving composition.

I'm doing the points values from memory but it would be about 700pts. Something like this would be a pretty straight forward introduction to the list. You've got the core warriors, your two big heroes and their magic to mess around with, plus some specialists with the guard and the wood elves. I couldn't fit cavalry in, but you could probably find the points to get a few if you dropped Celeborn down to Haldir and got ride of the wood elves.

Warband 1
Galadriel
4 warriors w/ shield
4 warriors w/ shield and spear
1 warrior w/ banner
2 guard of the court

Warband 2
Celeborn w/ h. armor, shield, and sword
4 warriors w/ shield
4 warriors w/ shield and spear
4 warriors w/ elf bow
2 wood elf warriors with elf bow

Regarding whether to add Galadhrim Knights or Guards of the Galadhrim Court first, I think I would add the Knights first.

Having some cavalry probably looks more interesting visually. And in game terms it could really help with scenarios where you need more speed, such as to get across the board, or to grab objectives. Or just hide them near the infantry ready to charge out and do some damage when the lines clash.

The big advantage of the Guards is that they are fight 6. This is very handy for tackling F5 orc captains, or if you were fighting other elves. But a lot of the time it's good enough to have normal elf warriors at F5 anyway. So you wouldn't always feel the advantage.

hi @darkangelxix - I've used Galadhrim quite a bit and I found an old post that I wrote on this site about them...Hope this helps

- Galadriel and Celeborn are both excellent models who can swing the game in your favor......Galadriel's Blinding Light ensures that you will definitely win any shooting wars, and her ability to Immobilize can be invaluable as well. And with her Fate re-rolls, she will also never die unless you let her get surrounded for multiple turns. If you use Celeborn, I'd strongly recommend that you give him all his options - heavy armor, shield, and elven blade. With his 3 attacks, High Fight value, and Elven blade helping win fights, the add-ons make him super-survivable. I think I've used him 6 or 7 times and he hasn't died for me once (knock wood - lol)

- Rumil is great and I use him consistently. His special rule making opponents re-roll 6's is a godsend. He can tie up even the biggest heroes for a few turns or he can be deadly to lower level heroes.

- Haldir is very solid as well, and his expert shot rule is a nice perk. He is also very solid in combat and rarely lets me down (knock wood again - lol). Put armor on him for sure, and if you own the Helms Deep model, that is fun version to use.

- Guards of the Galdhrim Court are awesome. F6 is a huge plus, and the ability to have two of them 'double support' can swing the balance in your favor for sure. They can also use their pikes to shield, which helps with survivability. I have 24 of them and use at least 16 of them in most games. I even used two Guards in one game and had them both 'shield' and together they tied up Aragorn for about 6 turns !

- The Knights have been buffed in the current version of the rules going up to D5, and D6 with a shield and can be useful objective grabbers or can add a little punch to combat. Just don't let them get charged, as with only one attack when not charging and no spear support available, they can go down quickly.

- If you have enough points to spare, adding spears to your archers can help as they can then support the front line when the lines meet and shooting isn't an option anymore. And on that same thought process, adding shields to your swordsman gets them up to the needed D6, and also allows them to shield if they are getting overwhelmed and need to hold off and just survive until help arrives.

Hope this helps...

My first game with the elves was a victory. Galadriel was worth her points in gold! Celeborn and Haldir spent most of their time paralysed. I forgot the resistant to magic rule.
