I am thinking of buying this game for PC, seeing as I don't have an XBOX 360 as of now. Is it any good on PC, however?

Apparently the whole game isn't very good on any system.
I heard it really sucked.
If you want to know more about it, there is a forum on this website

http://www.middleearthcenter.com/

It will have info about conquest and you can talk to members there who actually play it. (I don't play it)

The lore part is a horrible abomination of Tolkien's work, and the classes are horribly imbalanced (The warrior's main ability seems to be rapid death). The best review I've seen is average, though most of them fall in the "D" grade, or 3-4/10.

You may be able to mod it into being fun on the PC, though.

I've played it, it's a good fighting game but is horribly innacurate to the masterpieces of J.R.R Tolkien :-X . Just play it cause you want to whack some orcs, not because you're expecting it to be an LOTR game 8) . If you forget the title, it's actually great. I'd advise buying it off of Ebay--there's some sellers selling it for eighteen bucks with free shipping there. :D :D

i liked playing it, it was pretty fun if you're not thinking it should look like lotr, cause then the game suck >.<
like when you're playing with isengard and you're a mage?? :o i mean c'mon! :o a beserker for mage? :o they should let him be the warrior, weren't beserkers created to slaughter the enemy with there big swords? and what are they doing? they give him a staff :o i always got a little problem with that
whoops :s looks like i got a little over reacted
but anyway, it was pretty fun playing it for a while (:

The game is compelling enough if you are trying to get trophies, or whatever the equivalent is for the xbox 360. Short of that you might be compelled the two campaigns twice and a few multiplayer games. I do not think there are balancing issues with the classes. They are all so overly powerful that they balance out. A ranger or mage should not be able to hold their own in close combat, though they do have some options if a warrior gets to close.

I think everyone has summed it up pretty well.

its an ok game, with ok graphics etc, but its not a LOTR game.
Fun to play online, and the campaigns are ok, a multitude of rubbish warriors running towards you who u kil with one hit, follwed by a couple of harder to kill troops, then hold a piece of ground for a little while is as good as it gets.

As a response to the original post, I would say the game is only worth the purchase if you can find it cheap. It is almost a disgrace to LotR with its massive and unecessary deviations from both the books and movies. Otherwise, its a basic hack and slash with maybe 5-6 hours of enjoyment.

@ those who were wondering why they could not play online--EA Games actually ended the online for LotRC as well as many other games b/c the amount of players was so low, the company considered it a waste of money to continue supporting it. You will recall, unlike most other gaming companies, EA uses their own servers rather than Microsoft's or Sony's free servers, for reasons unknown to me. This means that you will not be able to get the online achievements anymore as well. I'm sorry if you ever wanted to play this game online again...
