Well, I already know that I hate that elf and that dwarf as they seem too cheesy and warhammery to me. Can play as just the ranger and not have those two, because if you have to play as at least one of them, asnd you can't just let them die and continue on without them, then it's a no from me.

You can just play as the Ranger but those two will hang around you forever. They will not die off.

Oh thanks very much Marauder, but I don't want to be continually reminded how annoying they are. Thanks for your help.

I just recently got back in to WitN to finish it only to run into a big bug. I really don't even recommend this game for bargain bin prices anymore. It's a fun game, with lame characters with boring dialogue, but what's the point having a game you can't finish?

Apparently there's this bug in the game that stops you from progressing further into the story and the makers haven't been able to patch it up. Many people on their forum has complained about it. It's still possible though to have a proper playthrough. So if any of you had plans on getting this game, be cautious.

I enjoyed Space Marine and Dawn of War 2, if that's what you are asking.

I only paint WH40k miniatures, never played a game with them.

On my third playthrough. I love the game, great graphics, great designs. I actually won it in a radio call in contest, was quite random. Had to tell them what a Balrog was on air to win. I've played through first time as the ranger, second as the dwarve, and this time I'm alternating. What was/is confusing are all the extra non accessible waypoints on the map, and map fragments you find. It doesnt tell you that you can't access them, except on the site FAQ. Was very frustrating figuring that out the hard way. The waypoints all have storyboards that tell the war of the ring. Boring if you've read the books.

So how did you explain what a Balrog is?

I get the feeling that WitN was supposed to have a good amount of DLC like any other game, but since Skyrim completely blew it out of the water, I bet they dropped it.

The question was what creature slew Gandalf the Grey, and what was it? Was pretty straight forward lol

And Excuse my ignorance but what is DLC?

Ohhhh...duh lol. I'd like a War of The Ring RPG similar three hunter format where you fight in Rivendell, Dol Guldur, Erebor, Lorien, for their last defenses. Skyrim is awesome....LOTR is too written in stone to compete on that scale though unless they go way back to the first age and do the Silmarillion. Pick a race, that determines your events and timelines and then go through all the major battles, and events specific to them, and intersect as needed. Its big enough of a world and timeline you could loose yourself for months playing through a historical Elf, Dwarve and human story line. One at a time.

War in the north was a step in the right direction, but way too rough around the edges. If the dialogue wheel actually changed the outcome of the game instead of just being used for finding extra info, then the game would be like a more action packed version of dragon age. Regarding dlc: I heard that the tolkein foundation denied any more dlc being made, and almost cancelled the whole game.

Me and some friends are gonna attempt a speedrun of war in the north, try 'n' break some records y'know. Also, anyone here play guardians of middle earth, it's such a good game?

Ahhhh I loved that game, wasn't perfect but it had a certain charm to it! The coop was quite fun, too :)

I've been toying with the thought of converting a Dwarf/Elf/Ranger to fit the characters in WiTN and giving them profiles, maybe even take it further with a few scenarios, but right now the Hobbit boxset has priority :P
