I have so much lag, that it is impossible for me to complete the Instance in the Introduction quest. I don't know what I'm going to do. Maybe I need to get a flash drive, download it onto that, and play it on a different computer....

A finally it's free! :-D
I've played this in the past but only as a free trial.
If someone needs a bit of help I'm Aqanalinthir lvl 25 hunter on nymrodel
About having to buy quest packs.. you don't have to buy them you can get turbine points by completing deeds but it might take a while.
I now have 135 points by completing some easy deeds (one third of the first quest pack :D )

Fraigo's basically in limbo guys...the lag makes it impossible to move forward, and Halo Reach, miniatures, and school are at present a huge distraction from LotRO, or rather, worrying about LotRO is a huge distraction away from Reach, minis, and school, which are more enjoyable or important. My puny 512mb flash drive is broken, and I know I'll need a new one, so I'll see what I can do about my young hobbit hero's predicament when the occasion arises. But meanwhile, Fraigo will be standing in front of Jon Brackenbrook, waiting patiently to save Archet from the Blackwolds without lag. Poor Fraigo...

..not that anyone cared ;). Just though I'd let everyone know why the forum's champion for this free-to-play mode wasn't shouting with jubilation about playing LotRO, earnestly gathering everyone into a formidable One Ring fellowship or kinship. Everyone enjoy, I'll catch up later!

Looks pretty interesting, I've signed up but its taking forever to finish the download.
EDIT: I just realised that there are only US/Europe servers, and I live in Southeast Asia. Anyone knows if this will cause a problem (like not being able to play or serious lag)?

Hey all,

I needed a flash drive for school, so I went ahead and purchased a 16gb so I could also use it for PC gaming. Its a PNY Attache, I really like it. Needless to say, I copied LotRO onto the drive to see if there was a significant difference. The answer? Yes. The load times were faster and there was a lot LESS lag. Even so, there was STILL lag. A cutscene wouldn't play properly; after long periods of walking, the screen would "jump;" and I just logged off due to a debilitating freeze. Its better than it was before, a lot better, but its still not great. This game is limited by the computer's processing power, even when being loaded through a flash drive.

I'm actually strongly considering uninstalling LotRO to make room for other games and such until I get a new computer, because, while enjoyable, I can't see myself playing this very often due to the lag (which warrants poor graphic settings to keep at bay). In addition, not many people seem to be on Arkenstone with me...:( I dunno, I'll give it a few more tries throughout the week, check in on Fraigo, see if anything works out.

Farmer Giles of Ham--There are multiple download options to the right on the webpage you provided. If you've never played before, fill in the fields, then click, "Get Started/Click Here". If you already created an account with Turbine, you can click the blue button that states "Already have an account? Click here to add a free subscription." Lastly, there is a third option, possibly the one you are looking for: scrolling down, there is a blue button that states "Download Now." Above this, it states, "Already have a subscription and just need to download the game client?" Ignore this, click that button, and you will be presented the option of high or standard resolution--you will be prompted to create an account during the download instead. If you see none of this, then I don't know, honestly. It might have something to do with the fact that you're in Norway, and if so, I'm sorry man!

Essentials are free--downloading the game and playing it. Additional content costs Turbine points, but the additional content is not necessary to enjoy the game (like downloadable content purchased with Microsoft Points on Xbox Live).

I just joined to see what the game was all about - can't figure out how to actually get people to talk to me. I can right-click as much as I want, but they just ignore me. Plus getting any 'focus' energy seems to elude me too.

EDIT - Ignore me, I'm an idiot. It's working now, I just needed to ignore the instructions and actually left click things.

Vilya - I'm still wading my way through the introduction though. My character's name is Vanyalir and I'm fighting bad guys near Archet at the moment.
