Anyone know of any suppliers offering discount on the Hobbit range? Not just a couple of items, but access to most of the Hobbit stuff?

Thanks

In the UK, Wayland Games advertises discounts and has a deal of the day. Tons of ranges of other minis, too.

Unfortunately yes, the majority of GW Hobbit / LOTR is direct only now.

Apparently, they pulled the plug on most online stockists a few years back as they were having their generous (supplier & stockist only) discount being used to sell-on the miniatures so cheaply through the stockist's own webstore, that it was almost becoming pointless to sell the models through their own site.

My local games store owner explained that due to the actions of these online stores, most high-street stores now have to order a set level of stock from GW and although they can order direct-only for customers, they are not allowed to have these items to sell in-store.

Obviously, if you can get the exact same model for 10/20% cheaper than normal, then common sense dictates you would do that. It's just a shame that GW were abused by their business customers in this way ; it has resulted in the direct-only option being the only way available now.

On a slightly more positive note, you can keep an eye on eBay to see if anything comes up a bit cheaper but be careful, there are some pretty vile sellers who will try to list models as OOP, etc to try & hike up their price.
