I am creating some new equipment for some characters in LoTR. I have based them on the books, films and other evidence which has helped me created them. In the brackets after the equipment, you can see who has access to them. C & C welcome. Thanks.

Frying pan (Sam).......10pts

If sam is equiped with the frying pan then his attacks are worked out a bit differently. If sam wins the combat, roll a D6. On a 1,2,3, sam has failed to stun his enemy with the pan. He can then only strike once against his enemy. On a 4,5,6, Sam has stunned the enemy with his pan and may then attack twice against any target in the fight.

Herugrim (Theoden)......5pts

The fierce sword of the king of Rohan. Théoden. He had entrusted the blade to Gríma Wormtongue for safekeeping, but Gríma hid it away and allowed it to rust. When Gandalf restored Théoden to power, the sword was renewed as well. Whilst Theoden carries this blade his might store is increased by 1.

Gúthwinë (Eomer)..... 10pts

The sword that belonged to Éomer. It was borne by him at the Battle of the Hornburg. Whilst he carries this blade, his attacks value is increased by 1.

Troll bane (Pippin, guard of the citadel)....5pts

The barrow blade which was given to pippin. If pippin carries this blade, he receives a +1 bonus on the wound chart against trolls (of any kind.).

Thats all for now, I have some more written on paper which need improving. Sam's frying pan works great against goblins  .

Thanks again

James

Edit:-

Frying Pan:

This has no effect on enemies with a strength of 6 or more.

I think this would have more use if you put it in the original post.

i like the rules, except perhaps pippin, only because he is too weak for any player who is thinking about what they are doing to actually charge a troll!!

Yeah, you're right. I don't know why I didn't.

Thanks joris267! :D

Honest comments:
- the frying pan is cartoonish, I'd never use it. In a real battle, goblins would be thrilled if someone tried to use a frying pan against them. It's completely unbalanced, too short with a terrible handle...better to just use a stick.
- Herugrim is overpowered. It was simply a legacy blade and only had sentimental value. You're putting it on par with Elvish and Numenorean weapons, but the Rohirrim smiths didn't have that power.
- Guthwine is WAY overpowered for the same reasons. 4 attacks? That makes Eomer better than Aragorn.
- Pippin's troll's bane isn't bad, but should cost twice as much.

I figure Herugrim and Guthwine are already built into the profiles for Theoden and Eomer.

Eomer with 3 attacks is overpowered. I like the idea of Theodens blade and the anti troll one, but not sure if a pan could do much damage, make it count as he is unnarmed because you can't kill someone easilly with a pan.

I think that theoden should have 3 might points being named king.

3 attacks not 4,

possibly, not sure about the cost yet. Most people won't charge a troll with pippin anyway.

Tolkien said that Eomer was on par with Aragorn and Imrahil in terms of Fighting, so It is by the book.

Get rid of the Frying pan, it's an improvised weapon he used in one fight, nothing special.

@Corsair: you're right about Eomer's attacks, my bad

I think you're right, but that should be reflected in his profile, not be an artifact of his weapon.

Maybe the Sword Gives his Spirit a lift, just making him more determined.

I suggest getting rid of the Frying pan and making rules for the Items Galadriel gave the Fellowship, and the Swords of Westernesse and such.

Like a reroll on failed courage tests, or a courage bonus ?

That could work, if the description fits.

I do a half a$$ed job on descriptions so I usually cut out the junk.
