Sorry, I don't quite understand how +1 against trolls makes him couragious and keeps him close to the king. Is it the help he can give to the king against trolls will mean it is a tactical advantage to keep him close and in doing so keeping him in the battle under the king's stand fast? :?

I think that the rule that he only can be included in the force when Theoden is present should be changed so that he only can be included when any marshal of Rohan (Theoden, Theodred, Eomer) is present, but do as you wish. :)

Yeah, that's a good idea Hallpers! 8) It'll certainly make him be easier to field.

in that case you should change his bodyguard rule, so it will apply to any member of the royal family

You got it! :-D

(When I eventually finish my Isengard army I'll crack on with the conversion (both ft. and mt.) and I'll post some pics up in my WIP!).

Ok, would you have to choose one of the "royals" for Guthlaf to protect, or as long as one of them is still on the table he will pass all courage tests? :)

Since Théoden is the First Marshal of the Riddermark, Théodred is the second, and Éomer is the third, I think that Guthlaf should protect first Théoden, then Théodred, then Éomer, i.e, if Théoden dies, then he protects Théodred etc.
But when I think about it... it's just the same like you said that when one of them is alive, he'll pass all courage tests...

id say that before the beginnig of the game you must nominate who he is going to protect. if théoden is on the board, then he must be nominated. if he is not on the board, then theodred must be nominatied, if he is not on the board either then eomer, and if he is not there eowyn. this is just the line of eirs. i.e. if theoden dies, theodred gets the throne. however, if theodred was already dead (as in the film/books) eomer becomes king, etc.

(i dont now if erkenbrand is a member of the royal family, if he is, he must be placed at the end of the list)

this is just how i would do it, but do it as you please

I don't think he's a member of the royal family, however, he's Lord of the Westfold, and later, Marshal of the Westmark.

Er... ...I need a bit more practice with converting first...but we'll see!

Perhaps we could say that as long as Guthlaf is within x inches of a member of the Royal family, he automatically passes any courage tests? :)

No, I think it should be that as long as anyone of them is on the table, he passes all courage test, since that's how the Bodyguard rule is for everyone else.

Ok, but how will that mean he sticks close to a member of the royal family?
