after some months of doing other hobbies like playing poker, piano, football, etc , i'd like to build the mountain.

i have really no idea, how to make that huge mountain. the whole with styrofoam is very much work.

maybe u could use huge blocks of "isimo" and pull pieces out of it to give it the good shape. If needed you can also cover it up with clay. Dunno if this is any help. Good luck.

clay? hmm a bit too heavy maybe, but it's an option. Try making large panels & then fill them up with anything you have scraps of foamboard, paper etc.. (preferably light thing, expanding foam may also may useful) then get a nice finish & you should have a mountain 8)

just tought about antother thing; papier maché or how it's called again. You know what i mean probably - keeps light and you can really make great stuff in it. It's very light. And some of that chicken fence stuff can help to. I hope you understand what i mean. :-D

I might mistaken but aren't there also not some kind of other kinds in it. Some powder or something that u gotta use. I don't remember exactly. But i saw something in an artist shop once. And you didn't needed glue or paper for it. But it costs a bit more to. But i might be mistaking...

It might be easy, it was only suggestion tough. You really need to go in art/hobby shops they got lots of great stuff to work with. Even things you didn't even know they excist :-D And about terrain - i probably know as much as you do. I just stick things and paint stuff. I do know that i don't got good material to do much. I got lot's of isimo that might be handy for something moria like. But castles aren't good to make out of it. Because of the round pellets. Good luck with the rest of your helms deep.

You have a good foam cutter. I would stand several pieces of foam on end and carve the foam with the cutter.
The link below is a 5 part how to build elementary school project. This is what the rail road modelers call a shell method. The guy building has a talent for it. The project covers a mountain cave, cast rocks and water and flocking as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tipz__w6 ... re=related

This kit sells for about $20. I think you might be able to buy enough plaster cloth for helms deep for about $14. Two rolls at $7 each. The craft store has it for a little more than than the rail road store. But he rail road store has more than one brand. Shop locally. You can alway dip paper towels in plaster of paris if the bandage is to costly.

You have done well so far. I am looking forward to see it finished.

This is a useful site as well. He rambles and with my hearing impairment his accent is hard for me to understand but some of his videos are really good. His webs sites are a good source of useful information..
