Thank you both! :)

Right now I am working on a converted Knight of the White Tower. I'm using a head from a Minas Tirith captain on an Isildur body. Only real sculpting I had to do was adding his hair. The other is going to be an Osgiliath Veteran. I found a leftover Harad bowman in my parts drawer so I figured that I could have this guy just wrapping his head because of a lost helmet. I still need to do some sculpting on the wraps, remove the medallion-thingy from the forehead area and batter up his armor a bit.

Much prefer your knight to mine (finecast). Want to swap?

I really like your Knight of the white tower! As I won't buy any finecast, this is a great way for me to have that nice mini without having to deal with finecast :D
Your orc conversions are great too!!

That's an excellent idea, Bilbo! Should also be fairly cheap and easy to do, as Isildur and Minis Tirith Command were both made for many years during the zenith of the game's popularity. Finding some used shouldn't be much trouble at all. Also saves me buying the finecast command set, since I only needed him out of it.

How are you planning to batter the armor of the converted veteran? He appears noble and the turban makes him look like a veteran from the wars with the south.

Unfortunately i have just heard some devastating news from Davids Wife Lisa, David Terain "Bilbo Of The White Tower" has passed away this morning,

Ive known Dave since i first appeared on this site and he was always a caring and brilliant man ! his conversions, painting and love for the hobby where second to none and ive always admired him

the only thing i can say to how i feel would be the message i sent is wife Lisa . . .

Quote:
Hi Lisa, Ive just sat here for nearly 40 minutes trying to think of what to say and nothing but tears.. i know we never met in person but i really do class him as one of my closest friends and i care for him deeply, he always called me his "UK brother", i really hope he wasnt in pain and i assume it came sudden as he only posted yesterday on a couple of conversions hes done, if i can do anything or help in anyway lisa please just ask as nothing will be to much for Dave. but i will always remember and really miss him. Matt

David has been an inspiration to me from the minute I joined the One Ring community. I am forever grateful for the advice and the friendship he has shown me during my time here. He will be so sadly missed. My first ever client on my commission business and indeed one of the two people who forced my hand to start painting commissions in the first place. A remarkable painter and a remarkable guy.

This is really hard to take : (

Goodbye brother

I so want to do this too but I'm afraid I'd break down before I got to the end.

I can't believe it. Well I won't believe it.
My sincerest condolences to all the family.
I don't know what to say, only May he rest in peace.

Oh hell...I didn't know the guy well so theres not I can add that hasn't been already been said. Clearly the One Ring is diminished by his loss. I suggest that this thread be preserved & stickied, and maybe moved to a Hall of Fame / memorial subsection (if none exists, it should do). It would be a shame if this thread were ever to be deleted accidentally or buried in the back pages.

edit: just found his blog also.

I didn't really know him but there's a great body of work in this thread, not much else to say other than my thoughts are with him and his family.

Such a shame. A brilliant painter and from all reports an even better person. Always had something nice to say and would have input on everyones WIP threads. I enjoyed the updates and will miss them. Pretty sad news, I'm relatively new to the onering site but it's like a little family everyone has time for eachother so even though I never met or knew him that well as a person, from our small interactions here I still can't help but feel deeply saddened at the loss to his family and the loss to us here. RIP Botwt
