Hey all,
been a while, but here as promised sum pics of the new beastie in my posession. Smaug

The size of this thing is to say the least impressive. I'm hoping to get mine by April and cannot wait.
I shall be watching this with lot of interest.
The colour you have picked to base the pillars is what I thought, one you get some lighter tones applied you will start to see the marbling effect.

From one of the pictures perspective, it looked like you were painting smaug blue :D

I know we had this discussion already in Mini-chat and you had your points about glue interfering and color transition, but I still find the wings to be in the way when assembled full (IMO). The connecting body is fine, it's just working around the wings to paint seems like a hassle to me for so large a model. I would paint the wings and body separately but leaving the connected edges/area to be glued just base painted and fully paint after gluing.

In any case good progress, will be keeping an eye on your WIP.

one small tip, prepping smaug for assembly, and cleaning him up..leaves a mess.
if there are wives,girlfriends,mothers nearby..make sure u clean up after urself
it got quite messy here

Oh Wow, cant believe its been that long. Sorry Everyone.

Been a hectic few years and now in the process of moving to a new place.
Once settled i do hope to be more active here with more updates and blog posts. Hope to see you all again soon
