Your painting is very realistic and the tones are implimented in a very good fashion. I really liked those dwarves, especilaly Gloin.

Good luck with your huge scenery, it already looks very promising. 8)

Okay, here we go. :) It obviously depends on the finish you want it to have. There are some articles on the site which explain making rock faces in different ways. Here are some that might be useful:
kb.php?a=9
kb.php?a=81
kb.php?a=85
(Scroll through the article to find the relevant stuff.)
All these ways are very nice and efficient ways to create rock texture, if this is the kind of texture you like to have.

Personally, when making my Dwarf Mine, I was looking for a slightly different look. You can check my gallery or this topic (http://www.thelastalliance.com/viewtopi ... =16&t=4687). I have written an article on how to make it like that, and it was on TLA (though the article section there is now removed, it will be back). If this is the kind of look you want to achieve, I can send you the article in pdf. Just PM me your email address. ;)

Cheers for that. We had a look at that TLA article a while ago and it played a big part in inspiring us infact.

Very nice painting Gene, I have to agree with GothmogtheWerewolf about the tones, very nice indeed. Really like the colours on Bifur and Bofur as well. Celeborn is looking exceptionally good too and those initial shots you took, with the miniature looking small, gives a nice impression as to what they look like on the table top, very effective.

Just a quick update. Spent the bank holiday carving rock, glueing it together and sticking down sand in the gaps. Hopefully get it painted tomorrow with the brother while he's off school.

A few highlights, snow layers and small details left to go. Will post close ups once I'm happy.

Started on the new warg rider set I was surprised with at Christmas. Had no desire to buy them, but I actually really love the models now. Went into a little bit more detail than I anticipated, for regular troops.

C&C welcome. I am also happy that my new phone's camera cuts the mustard.

That's a great looking orc. What colour will you be doing your wargs?

Awesome work Gene, brilliant paint job, especially the face. Great work on the scenery, have you gamed on it yet?

Cheers, we had a quick game with it, but I was introducing an 11 year old to the game so we didn't really utilize it strategically. Just stuck it on the board to look cool.

Got a start on Nori today. Still have various browns left to do.
