You are off to a very good stat, its great to see these done in order too :)

Are you undercoating the models with black? If so I presume that you are doing this by brush? This is fine, I just think that spraying is a bit easier and if you do the base first it saves a bit of time and can look better too (as you have more layers of brown on top of black instead of using one as the base colour).

I agree with you that the Uruk hai are a bit too shiny - the guides do it this way because they only give you silver paint. To make it look better, one thing I would recommend is working on your drybrushing - put a small amount of paint on your brush and wipe it off on a tissue until it is barely or not visible on the tissue, then gently brush the armour parts - you will find there is still plenty of silver there. If it doesn't work well, you might need to spread the paint through the brush more by moving the brush back and forwards on a tray or plate.

Top stuff!

Well, yea, i'm doing the undercoat by brush... i dont have the spray :\ but im seriously thinking about getting one, since everyone says thats a lot better.
About the uruks, i really need to do that, a dry brush all over their armour and maybe a darker brown on their skin

You are making a nice start to your figures. As a general starter tip I like to ensure you are watering down your paints - about 1 part paint to 2 parts water is a reasonable start. As time goes by you may increase the water. For example, I use 4 parts water 1 part paint for some glazing.
As for spray under coats then I wouldn't hurry, I still use a brush undercoat ( Vallejo White primer ) as I would rather spend more cash on increasing my paint collection.

Some definite skill here, but lots of room for improvement 8)

I suggest to get some subtle transitions between light and darker areas, pop some paint in a palette. Add a little water to make it run smoother, and paint it on. Water it great for getting smooth coats, if you're not already using it. As well, it helps blend the highlights.

Keep up the good work :-)

Hey guys, i'm working right now on a photoshoot scenery for my minis using lotr statues :)

I'm gonna display the images and explain what i'm doing ... it's not done yet, but i expect to update it realy soon

With this pencil box as base, im gonna make some terrain modeling using Black Gesso/Plaster

Image

Image

And here's the plaster. I used a piece of cardboard to make it the way i wanted with some wrinkles and decals.

Image

Image

And here it is already dry after one night getting free air

Image

Then i brushed PVA glue all over the model and poured beach sand in it.

And thats the current state of my little project :-D
As i said, i expect to re-update my WIP really soon

And it's done guys :-D and i must say that i'm really happy with the final result

So, lets continue:

After the PVA glue with the sand dry, i painted the floor with a base of Rhinox Hide (scorched brown), and then gave it a dry brush of graveyard earth, vermin brown, elf flesh, and again, some rhinox hide. This is the result:

Image

After this i dry brushed the terrain gaps with codex grey and skull white, but i forgot to take some pics :x sorry dudes

Proceeding, i used cork to make some stones and rocky ground and bristles of an old brush to make some tall dried plants. Here are the pics:

Image

Image

And thats the result (i had already started painting the rocky ground on the left when i remembered to take the pic xD):

Image

Then i painted it all and added some grass. And thats the final result:

I must say i really like the final result on the last on... it's perfect!!!!!
Finally, the pics of the photoshoot scenery with the already painted statues, wreckage and minis:
