Solid work! :) From what I can say from the photos Boromir's eyes look quite realistic :)

Loving this thread progression, you're definitely improving as a painter and I'm tempted to try something similar :D

Thanks :-D
I can recommend you to do it! It is lot of fun having all this minis to paint in a certain order. It's not only money but also time well spent. This is extremely exciting

Just a small update...
So, I used for the first time the Army Painter Strong quickshade to make my Uruk captain look dirtier (Gandlaf suggested me to make the armour look less clean).
As I already said, it was the first time that I used the quickshade and I must say that I'm really impressed. It improved a lot my Uruk's armour.
Here are the pics.
ps: if you're interested, I'm making a review about several army painter products in my blog - http://middleearthminis.blogspot.pt/

I'm sorry for the bad quality in this one :(

Much better, that has given it the look I was thinking of. Nice comparison shots.
I've seen the AP quick shades and they could be something I'm interested in.

I used the quickshade dip, but I dont really like the idea of dipping the minis because it makes you lose control of the process I think, so I brushed the quickshade in the armour. The only downside is that it glows too much, but AP has a anti-shine spray that takes the shine away.

this is what I used: http://admin.thearmypainter.com/files/products/quickshade/strong_tone_100x125.png

I really like the result on it and I'll have to thank you Gandlaf 8)

Very nice of you to say.
To stop any shine I use Vallego Matt Varnish, it's excellent stuff that you just paint on and I haven't noticed any colour loss as a result.

I agree with orcs being filthy... poor choice of words. Erm, the natural state of the orcs is to be hygenically challenged. :)
I too would be a bit worried by the dipping routine as I would be sure to lose a few in the dip :(

They have tested the AP shading dip on Massive Voodoo and rate the product, so if it's good enough for those guys ???
I too was unsure about dipping a figure but seeing the results if can be a great idea for some quick figures.
The article I read, they highlighted the figures again, after the dipping to create a sharper edge.

Hmm, there's only one solution... I'll try that in one miniature and see if that works for me :)

Apply a thin dark brown glaze to the face will help define some detail. Mix blue to this glaze and keep it thin, then apply this coat in the darker areas of the face to help create some depth.
If you are not seeing the contrast, apply more coats.
You could then touch up the highlights again once the glazes are dry.
