I've had a busy couple days assembling Goblin Town and have painted up some test subjects for my goblins;

On the whole I'm pretty happy with them but think they could do with an extra highlight on the faces.

I've decided to paint my goblins in batches of 6, painting two heroes between each batch to keep me motivated and add a bit of variety to my current project. This will leave me with seven heroes and the scribe left to encourage me to do the scenery.

So, with my first batch of goblins done, I am working on Balin and Dwalin.

I was determined to have a go at adding the scars and Dwalin's tattoos but as my freehand isn't great I've settled for getting the rough shapes in the right places.

That's the flesh pretty much finished but, after looking at the pictures I think I need another highlight on Balin's beard and hair and have slightly overdone the shading on Dwalin's beard so my next step is to sort that out before moving onto the clothing.

With my second batch of goblins painted I've started work on Bombur and Gloin.

I've tried using a technique for red hair DMS put on the GBHL facebook page a couple weeks ago but I'm not fully happy with the result, especially on Gloin. I think I'll practice it on some infantry and revisit the hair on these two at a later point.

Did some more work on these two yesterday and they're now all but finished;

One thing that definitely needs improving is Bombur's ladle, despite being the same base colour as his coat it appears much darker and just doesn't look right.

Not really a WIP as such but, after 4 months, the building work in my room has finally been completed and I've been able to get my work station set up so thought I'd share some pics.

as well as a close up of how my Goblin Town is going;
Image

I still haven't been able to get any models up on display yet but I've got the whole top shelves of my bookcases I can use;
Image

I'm planning to use this as an incentive to finally get my Mines of Moria scenery painted after Goblin Town's finished and have half a shelf each with Smaug in the middle section (when he's finished and if he'll fit) and use the final shelf to display some monsters, small warbands and some dioramas I'm planning to work on.

My plans for tomorrow are to get my next batch of Goblins primed and to make a start on Bifur and Bofur.

So, I've finally managed to make a start on Bifur and Bofur and have got the flesh and hair pretty much finished as well as basecoats on a couple other areas.

Bifur:

Bofur:

I'm pretty pleased with my progress on Bifur but was a little disappointed with Bofur but the photos show I haven't done as poor a job as I'd thought.

Should have these two finished and the next batch of Goblins at least started this weekend.

Haven't been able to update for a while due to my camera breaking but it is back from being repaired now so here are a few pics of my latest models, Dori and Oin.

Some nice dwarves there. I think you've nailed Bofur's face.

Thanks for the kind words guys, really pleased with how these guys are turning out. Next on the painting table (after my penultimate batch of goblin warriors) are Nori and Ori.

When painting eyes try painting them in before you highlight the face. Make the eyes appear thinner by painting a thin line of GW dark flesh under each eye then highlight the face as normal.
