Greetings everyone from Finland. I'm totally new to the game and I've decided to introduce myself by showing some of my stuff going on and telling a bit about myself.

I've always loved the books of Tolkien and one day I decided to get a hobby which would be quite different to bring some variation to my other hobbies (martial arts, gym).

I started to google around and found The Hobbit SBG. This was it. I found out that in my hometown there's a store selling these lovely miniatures. I went there running my head as my fifth leg and bought the Goblin Town box and started painting. I've never painted miniatures before so these are my very first minis (I've painted on canvas and I'm also a diligent drawer with charcoal). Okay, but here they are (pic heavy!), let me know what you think and also all the tips are welcome how to improve my work!

Sorry about the poor quality of these photos. They're taken using my phone with shaky hands.

Thank you bro! I'm a big fan of your work too. When I started painting these minis some of your work were open at the screen in front of me as a reference where to aim at.

Here's a group photo, Gandalf and some example how I've painted my goblins. Gobbo is still WIP.

Here's a pic of my Ori conversion. I wasn't a big fan of that slingshot eventhough it looks funny. So I used some spare parts from Champions of Erebor Dwalin and brutally chopped Ori's hand off from the wrist and added an axe. I didn't give him another axe because he's not a warrior at all and also that other "release" hand looks now like he's performing some ninja stance :-D

I like his face. The greenish skintones are very good.

Really good stuff!! Unbelievable these are your first minis but this can be explained with your artistic past. If you keep practice you'll be soon a great painter of miniatures too :yay: !

For your first miniatures these are excellent and I love the tones you've used on the Goblin/Goblin King, very sickly.

I hope so! My artistic past sure helps alot here. I've always loved little details in my paintings and drawings.

Thank you! Well to be honest I succeeded with that skin by accident as I was just playing around with wet colors :-D

Agreed, they all look very nice! The goblin king's face I think is particularly well done. Good job! :yay:

Okay, finally got some time from work to get some minis painted. This time we have some warriors of Erebor and young Thorin Oakenshield. Thorin is heavily WIP at this point but just wanted to show you guys what I have on my desk right now. They don't have basing yet as I'm waiting the weather to get better here in Finland so I can gather some material from outside for basing. Maybe if I'm brave enough I might give it a try and paint their eyes!

So here we go. The quality of the pics is awful but maybe you can see where I'm aiming at!
