This is truly amazing! You work really quick. I think playing on a board of this calibre would be amazing. Plus it would be really interesting to play on with all the levels and such!

The only thing that could make this even more of a dream battleground would be if, somehow, it were modular!

At first my intentions where, but I noticed the base space I gave myself after mapping out the board would restrict me on that. For my second board I'm going to try and map it out to allow me a little bit more modular freedom, making most buildings bases the same dimensions.

So was able to finish all the walls on the great hall last night but not going to post pics until I've completed the building in its entirety. But I would like to share some pics of figures I manage to get painted for future scenarios. I have not painted since 2012 so I was surprised how quickly I was able to pick it up again. Still need to work out my highlights for faces, still have not managed to perfect that but hopefully It will come naturally in time.

Still need to finish the basing and highlight the Orcs, but I'm glad I was able to get back into painting and this hobby instead of lurking about in the shadows of this forum like Gollum :gollum:

I am seriously impressed. Everything looks great. I'm very curious how you made the little windows so nice and round. You use a hot-wire cutter?

Thank you very much, I used to use a hot wire cutter but was very clumsy with it and often melt the foam instead of cut. I just use a compass to get a nice pattern drawn on there and after use a box cutter with very sharp blades to cut.

Duuuude this looks amazing. Love the carving into bluefoam, so brilliant. Much easier than foamcore board.

Can't wait to see more.

Really impressive build and layout. Osgiliath is by far my favourite place. Looks like your doing it justice.

Thank You Hasufel! And yes the blue foam is much easier for scoring then foam core haha, as you can see I used foam core for some floor sections and even scoring those was doing a number on the arthritis in my hands.

Yeah I just finished a 10ft by 10ft Osgiliath board from foamcore, 7 years of arthritis right there.

Next time it'll be blue foam for me I think!

I can't believe I haven't seen this until now. I love the Venetian feel of this board. It's very noticeable as Osgiliath, but still very unique to all the other boards out there. I'd love to play a game on it, especially using the old WD optional river boat rules. Certainly a labour of love, makes me a bit ashamed to say I cop out and use plaster blocks.

Might I suggest the series of terrain rollers? Green Stuff World makes them. Essentially they are rolling pins that are engraved with stones, or wood grain, or what have you. Would make quick work of the texturing.

Well Sorry for the very long and drawn out hiatus, in the midst of moving and dealing with the winter most of my stuff was in storage for a time, and I really haven't had any time to work. Plus some Warhammer 40k stuff came up... Anyways now that I've settled in to my new residence I've finally found some downtime to work on my board. Anyways managed to finish all structures for this board, and since I was snowed in for a couple days I was able to get some painting done. I've also managed to get the canal cut out so when the time comes I can put some water features on. hoping to have it finished this weekend and then I can get started on the second board. All that's left is dry brushing the base and adding the water.

That has to be the best looking osgiliath terrain i have ever seen. I think you struck a great balance between size and work to do, which means it might actually be finished without cutting corners. Do you intend on playing on it or is it mostly diorama?
