Woah  That thing costs $2617 over here in Australia (that's £1325.25) though I guess if a lot of people on this site added up the overall price of their collections it would be more than the price of this item which also comes with miniatures. If someone bought this it would be their whole collection probably :?
EDIT: Sorry  My bad there is actually no miniature as such but large amounts of weaponry which I am not sure of how that works as I have never played warhammer

Was it larger than 8' x 6'? Did it include defense turrets?

Yes actually it came with a fully stocked weapons cache and matching fortress with a legion of elite super-human troops called "Space Marines" GW obviously ripped this off, and true to form (their extreme cheapness) didn't even include the soldiers

Wow. That is ridiculous. Truly gone are the days of making fortresses out of recycled or craft goods... well not for me they aren't.

Maybe armageddon is literally the end of games workshop, they just want to go out with a bang! I reckon someone would buy this, play on it 4 or 5 times, then that would be it. Gone to waste. That or they change the rules so you can't use the old one that cost you $2k

There wasn't really an 'annual price rise' this year, but has the same thing been happening in 40k and Fantasy that happened in LotR/Hobbit?--have the new releases been stealth price rises?

I mentioned these before after finding them on the GW pre-order. I just don't know who their target audience is any more, short of people with banker's bonuses.

There is literally nothing in the pocket money bracket any more. I don't know how they're going to sustain it.

It might be something good for gaming clubs/ school clubs, friends sharing it.
But I don't see anyone spending that much money just because they can.

*takes deep breath as he types mildly defensive post about GW*

Whilst this is of course an expensive bundle, it's not 'one thing', it's 23 kits. That's not to say that each of those kits aren't overpriced of course but it's hardly their most expensive product yet (although granted it could well be their most expensive 1-click bundle). I played Warhammer for about 10 years between the ages of 10 and 20, I think I once made a conservative estimate that I'd spent about £6000 on various bits and bobs (and I'm sure many people on this forum have far exceeded that total) but of course not buying it all in 1 go made it far more managebale.

However, I too am baffled by exactly who would buy this in one click. I'm not sure what kind of collector/player has the time/space/money to buy/paint/store this lot and yet wouldn't have bought much of it before. It's hardly an impulse buy for a new hobbyist!

I tallied the various bits up and the total of £1156 represents a £0 saving over buying the stuff individually which is where they've really screwed up - they didn't even round down to £1150! :?

Thing is, I'm sure there are a few dedicated 40k players out there who won't buy all £23 of these kits but who might have considered buying the bundle if it was around £1000. The GW of 10 years ago always did bundle deals with discounts, that's how you convince the consumer to fork out all the money up front. As it is, I literally can't imagine a single good reason to buy this bundle, even if you had the disposable cash.

Seriously how many are they actually going to sell? With zero discount is anyone really going to buy it all in one go? Was it really worth the time and effort expended in photography and web tec expended in assembling this offer on the website?

If people think that is worth it there must be something wrong :dizzy:
I bet the raw materials cost less than £60! :?

I value entertainment at about £5-10 an hour, and justify buying minis because a £30 box of plastic blokes will give me 6 hours painting and building (at least), 20+ hours of game time and the pleasure of working on something with my own two hands.

If someone plays a lot of war games (10+ hours a week) and could split it with a friend, opponent, or club... I can see it being a worthwhile purchase. However, I still think GW is having a good giggle at our expense that people still pay their ludicrous prices.

My wallet won't be happy once I purchase a realm of battle board!
