Anyone play this? I've just read the quick-start rules and it looks quite nice.

Thanks. :)

I don't play it but if you check out Beasts Of War they have multiple videos and articles about Infinity. The minis look good though there is a little bit too much of the Anime for my taste, and the rules/gaming mechanics are more set up for small scale detailed skirmishes rather than ding-dong battles. But it does look very nice.

I started playing last year and I love it! Yes it it very much a skirmish game. Players rarely use more than 10 models per side. Its supposed to play out small special forces actions. The ARO Automatic Reaction Order system totally breaks up you go I go play. The non active player gets to react to the active players actions with in the active players turn. So there is no actual down time for either player. Its pretty popular in a number of countries.

Yes Dorthonion its very anime in feel. It was heavily influence by the Ghost in the Shell TV series.

But they do have a low tech faction with figures that might tickle your fancy.

Its a great game. I've been playing it for a year now - Yu Jing Army. Slowly building a community at local store. We are having our second tournement this weekend.

PROS
- Beautiful sculpts.
- Average of 7-10 models per side skirmish size game (4'x4')
- Reaction in opponents turns forces both players to play tactically.
- With the new Paradiso Campaign book the game just got even better.
- Free rules and free army builder !!!

CONS
- Learning curve is quite high after you learn the basic. But its worthwhile to persevere.
- Need lots of scenery on the table. At least 50% covered. Could be a deterrent to some.
- Some of the rules could be written in simpler terms to reduce confusion. But there is a wiki with FAQ.

My 40K is picking up dust these days... can see the day I'll play again.

I've played about ten games of Infinity so far. I really like it. It plays fast and furious.

For me:

PROS: The rules for hidden deployment of camouflage troops, aerial drops of troops mid-game, long-range sniping, hacking opponents' technology, etc. make it really super fun and tactical. Every game plays through very differently.

Pure skirmish goodness: small model count, with each model having certain skills/abilities to contribute.

Not so tournament oriented (more for friendly games, which I prefer).

Amazing minis (I know it was mentioned before, but they are just so great I had to say it again!)

The online Infinity community is pretty active and seems very friendly.

CONS: While the basics are easy to learn, it might take you a while to get up to speed with all the hacking and special rules.

And yes, you do need lots of terrain! But you can download lots of free sci-fi papercraft terrain from the 'el topo solitario' site and other fan sites online.

There are some good bat rep videos and tutorial videos if you look online.
