Cool, I am very excited but disappointed that the VT-49 Decimator is $40 and not $30 and that its only 2 ships

I like the ships, and getting what look like 2 quality models is better than getting some rubbish. The UK price will almost certainly be higher but I don't care.
Actually, I am seeing the Decimator and YT-2400 at £25 apiece on one UK website (pre-order). $40 = £23.57 on XE right now so not as bad as I feared!

Woah these are nice ships! Does anyone know which book/tv show/game/movie they feature in? I've not seen them before.

Glad you like it and I hope you have a great time with the game. If you are planning to play with your friends who don't have a starter set though a second core is pretty much a requirement for the templates and the dice, plus you get ships at a good value. You should call up a target if you have any because they are getting rid of their stock and have the sets half price.

Target is a US department store. And if they are having a sale, time to visit Target!

Wave 6 announced!!!
Scum and villainy ie bounty hunters.
See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR1_LfBz9kM

Basically, the main thing is the Set of one Y and 2 Zs which are reprints and apparently come with cards for the hawk and slave so that they can be used in the new faction without them having to sell them separately for 2 different factions.

I'll be picking up this set when it comes out, just for the Y and 2Zs, and as there are cards for the Y and the HWK in the same pack, fingers crossed that a new turret will be released.

And of course there is the Armada version of the game coming as well so corvettes and frigates can engage Star Destroyers while hordes of fighters do battle all around.

I went to Cancon last weekend (The Canberra Gaming Convention) and they had x-wing on sale $50 instead of the normal $70 so i picked it up and a couple of extar ships, an a-wing and a tie-interceptor.

I'm hooked and so is my son.

I can't wait to buy more ships.

So what are peoples favourtite ships? I'm wondering what to pick up next.

Tbh, I don't have very many ships, but my favourite list is this:
Outer rim smuggler- weapons engineer, Millennium Falcon
Luke Skywalker- Outmaneuver, R2-D2, shield upgrade
Dutch Vander- Ion cannon, R7 Astromech

It's just so fun to fly with the ion cannon, 2 360* arcs and a target lock/focus and wedge ability for Luke.
Although Han Shoots first (Han in the falcon with 2 x-wing rookie pilots) is fun and competitive too

Interceptors are one of the best things to fly with really - the newer Phantoms have somewhat taken the shine off (being even more destructive and maneuverable) but you can't beat the experience of flying classic Soontir (with Push the Limit): fly, barrel roll, push for evade and get a stress and focus. Good ol' token collector.

Although currently unavailable at most places (I expect it to be back soon, seeing how Scum and Villainy is coming) the Slave/Firespray is excellent too. Two agility on a big ship is great (it can even evade for more staying power), with good hull, shields, and three attack dice with two firing arcs. Looks pretty imposing too.

That being said, I feel everything should normally be accompanied by at least 2 and often 4 TIE Fighters - just for the classic image of those things rushing past (and exploding when shot at just once..!).

For the rebels, B-Wings are great. 5 shields on a small ship, it's just.. *mind blown* Interesting movements, very maneuverable on short distances (2-speed Koiogran, barrel rolls) but everything larger is stressful.

I have one interceptor and will porobably pick up a second at some point.

Are the tie defenders any good? I love the look of the ship so will end up getting one regardless of rules.

having a collector brain I'll most likley end up buying one of each type anyway, just trying to prioritise my wish list.

At the moment i'm thinking of for the small ships
Rebels: B-wing, 2nd x-wing (to get Wedge) then y-wing
Empire: Tie Defender, Tie phantom, 2nd interceptor, tie advanced (i can't not get Vader)

I'll pick up the falcon and slave 1 somewhere along the line as well.

I need to leave some of my spending money for hobbit!

Liking the ship is of course enough reason to take it, but it sure is a great ship to fly as well. It obviously has everything (3, 3, 3, 3), which can make it very tough to take down (with the right dice, it can take ages to take down even a TIE Fighter - not only does this one have 3 shields as well, all that extra health means you'll be alive for longer, throwing green dice for longer and thus surviving for even longer.
Most hard turns are red, but by the Valar, it has a white k-turn. That single maneuver is lovelier even than it looks on first sight. With a normal koiogran, you risk not being able to complete te movement (bump into other ship), which then gives you a stress regardless, meaning you have to do a green move and only then have another try at completing the turn. Here, you can programme in the turn anyway, and of course keep doing it turn after turn (half the games I used one, it got to a point where I wanted and was able to just keep doing koiograns in a row).

So, err, yeah, certainly a nice addition.
