Just a question.. i GUESS i can enter in the beginners category.. however can i enter with an invisible Frodo? Since it is not a painted model but you can judge the base-work? If this is allowed in which category?

I have a question regarding the picture you submit. Do you only submit one? If so can that picture include smaller detail photos on the sides?

When I enter in competition categories only appears the submit button in the begginers category. How can i submit pics in the best mini-open?

Thx in advance

Can't see why not, the more detail the easier it will be to judge.

Just a quick question:
I tried to register as a 'Beginner' not that long ago. I was just wondering if/when the system will alert you if you are accepted to enter into that category. Will I recieve a message or anything?

i have a few questions:
1) how long does it last?
2) are dioramas aloud?
3) will there be a seperate entry thing for dioramas?
4)what do i come under?
5)do you just choose what thing you want to base it on like the prancing pony or do you have to do all of them?

much appreciated

Check One Ring Awards rules

@ Fall of Fingolfin:

The rules set is quite obvious for most of those questions I think...

1. The entries will be accepted during the month of August, with voting taking place in the following month;

2. Dioramas are definetelly aloud and in more than one category;

3. You can enter a diorama in:
a) Open Best Terrain Piece or Diorama - You can enter either a terrain piece or a diorama themed around anything you want as long as its LOTR related;

b) One Ring Mastercraftsman - You can enter a diorama themed around a particular bunch of chapters (check the rules for this year details);

c) General Beginners Category - This is a special category and anyone entering it can enter up to three errm, entries. One single mini, one sculpt and one terrain/diorama piece.
The catch here is, anyone who is entering the Beginners category can only enter the beginner and the Mastercraftsman Categories... That means you cannot enter one of the open categories and the beginner category. Either you are a beginner or not, you cant be both.

4. Well, that really depends on what your entries are and if you consider yourself a beginner or not. If you think you are a beginner you need to click Beginner Registration so that your status can be confirmed by the staff. If you are accepted as beginner you wont be able to enter any of the Open categories. If you are not accepted as beginner, you can always enter the open categories. One word of advice to everyone: don't leave the Beginner registration for the last day! The status needs to be confirmed and that takes at least a few hours. If you leave the registration for the 23h of the last day, might be a bit tough to make it work.

5. Entries can be about anything LOTR related, from any brand, as long as they are in scale with the GW minis (25-28mm). The only themed category is the Mastercraftsman category. In this case, your entry has to be a diorama themed around a particular bunch of chapters (check the rules - link on top). You can pick any scene or whatever from those chapters and work from there...

I think I was clear enough. Please note that readind the actual rules carefully is a must for everyone who plans to enter the awards.

@ Emi78: Open categories dont need any previous registration steps. You will be able to submit your entries for the Open categories and the Mastercarftsman category as soon as the Awards actually start, in August 1st.

@ Noddwyr: Picture inserts are fine. Only thing that you need to be carefull is the filesize restrictions (a bit like in the galleries) and keeping them anonymous as possible (no tags or signatures are aloud). If anyone is having troubles with resizing the files just have a look in the forums. The issue was addressed several times.

@ Farmer Giles of Ham: Thats a funny question. The rules of the Awards actually imply that you MUST have a miniature in your entries, unless you are entering the terrain category.

I asked above and was informed that if a user is accepted into the "Beginner" category they will recieve a message.

Should I assume that one will also recieve a message if one is denied?

I started painting minis around 5 months ago - all of which was posted in a thread at TLA and in a WIP here, so I think I'm technically a 'beginner.' I don't know how well I'd compete against people who have been painting far longer - some probably since before I was born. I didn't know if it was approptiate to enter into the category especially since one of my articles wasn't approved. Because, I was told then, that my standards weren't high enough for OR. I didn't know if they would be classified as "Beginner" or not as far as competitions are concerned, I hope you understand - I'm not trying to get into an 'easier' category or anything like that.

I know tons of stuff goes into this competition, so I'm really not trying to bug anyone. I just thought I'd ask because the competition has started and I don't know which category I'm approved to enter into :?
