One Ring Awards
The management of The One Ring is excited to announce the start of a regular series of competitions for our members. Each season we will be holding the One Ring Awards; a number of competitions for beginners and experts alike. There will be the following categories:
Competition Categories
• Best Painted Miniature
 • Best Sculpture/Conversion
 • Best Terrain Piece
 • Best Diorama
 • Best Scenario/House Rules
 • Most Promising Painter
 • Most Promising Sculptor/Converter
 • Most Promising Terrain Maker
 • Most Promising Dioramist
 • Most Promising Gaming Guru
The competition will be opened for entries on the 1st of December and close on the 31st of December. Judging will be held in January and the winners announced during that month. Competitions will be held every three months. More information will be released closer to the dates, such as prizes and competition rules etc., but in the meantime get painting and building!

A huge thanks go to Potenza, Azog, and Nygyll of Wyvernhole for enthusiastically arranging this, and also to Tagron, Bob Bickels and (especially) Ring for their ideas and input.

(oh, the prizes are still being sorted out at the moment, but definately 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will earn gold coins towards their ranks. And there will be some blister packs and more for some of the categories too - more details to come)

Can we enter multiple categories, i.e., a mini, a sculpt or conversion, a diorama, a terrain piece - one of each apiece?

And for the most promising, it does not mean that the one who makes the most promises wins? ... (listens to all the groans worldwide, Attila the Pun strikes again)

@Dorthonion - that was the worst attempt at humour since, since,... since the last time you posted!

And yes, you can enter multiple categories. But not as a Novice as well as an Expert obviously.

And a special 'Ego-maniac' award goes for the person that wins all five categories with a single diorama/terrain piece/sculpting/paint job entry (and a scenario to go with it, naturally) - just kidding!

The competition starts in December and there will be a number of new galleries opened then that will let you enter your pictures. So you can start painting now and you'll have a month or so to finish everything off before entries will be accepted.

Good luck everyone.

Thats why we have the promising category. It allows those guys who are not Hall of fame style painters (yet) to have a go and try to win something. The judges do have the right to move items if we think that they have been submitted to the wrong category. Therefore you will not see the likes of Olofer, Peregrin Took, Tobold and others in the Promising painters competition.
Have a go you may suprise yourselves.

And good luck.

And please note all bribes will be gratfully accepted (won't actually get you anything but we accept them anyway)

@Tagron, at this stage (at least until the final version of the rules are published), the answer is 'yes, you can enter'.

Hmm... I like winning stuff, but can't paint, so I like the idea of the scenario/House rule catagory, and the Gaming Guru

Great way to include all aspects of the hobby
cheers to the team

Now... to start planning my scenario

Final rules have not been decided yet, but you will choose your own category. If the likes of Tobold does put themselves into Promising Painter they will be moved by us :) or even disqualified
