The Witch-King is quite good. It's just Khamul should be 400 points, and nerfed, so no-one ever notices him. The Undying is also quite useful in a non-overpowered way.

Why the hate towards Khamul? Lol he's always been my favorite I was so happy back when they released a model of him.

He's the weakest magician of the nine, but really needs to be on a fell beast to be effective.

In terms of SBG his magic is the weakest but I disagree on needing the fell-beast, I have great success on horse-back with him. The discussion of him with his being hated on was for WOTR where he's the best

I have found him useful against troops, but really had no success at any reasonable heroes, especially as he has to spend a lot of might to drain transfix them, to be able to defeat them.

were talking about WOTR here..

He's way to powerfull in WOTR and if he's in a formation it doenst matter he awalys deflects his hits.. either by magic, shooting or direct hits..

All nazgul are terrible in duelling heroes(they only have 1 might)

nah it's alright! I didn't mean to scare you off this topic haha.

It's just that I'd love to discus some more obscure characters of WOTR.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

How about Suladan?

Suladan is interesting. He's a character named by Games Workshop, but his origins lie in the Return of the King - his claim to fame is in his slaying by Theoden.

In-game, he is a calculated risk. His Perilous Hubris special rule (created I suspect to represent the event I described above) effectively means your opponent knows exactly what's going to happen in the fight phase, and as an upper-tier hero (in terms of base fight value) as well as epic strike, unless you get REALLY unlucky he's quite the boon. He also has the ever useful Hero-of-Legend, giving the opportunity to reinvigorate Suladan after every might point spent. However, if you do get unlucky on the duel, or come into contact with a formation with a measly, but plucky, captain, you'll have lost a valuable chunk of your force.

EDIT: My apologies LordElrond, I hadn't seen your post.

Knights of Dol Amroth are also a great discussion point. Apart from being stunning models, with Foot Knights you really pay a lot of points for the greater opportunity for an unstoppable charge, and if you want to make the most of those points spent you might end up calling heroic charges where they aren't advisable. I think the mounted Knights are a little more desirable - with cavalry's greater charge range you can afford to skirt and avoid the enemy until the time is right, and with the lances you're getting a +1 to hit which is always a boon.

Knights of Dol Amroth are the equivalent of a Tiger tank - they'll go through double the amount of enemy like a hot knife through butter, but they're far too expensive to weigh in compared to simple WOMT.

A good use for them would be, as Ellorindar suggested, to skirt around the enemy, and charge them once an opportunity presents itself. A good help would be having a 6-coy WoMT block to the enemy front, and charge the flank.
