Lots of evil there, not much good. Poor fountain guard are going to get squished I think!

My entry, going to try recreate the scene where Treebeard awakens (and squishes Grishnakh):

Image

The models used will be Treebeard, Grishnakh, Merry and Pippin, all based on that picture frame. Time to get cracking!

A friendly reminder that this is still running and you have just under two months to go.

As will I. They all look really promising. Particularly looking forward to the elves vs Uruk-hai.

Not too late to enter.

You may post WIP pictures here or in your own Work in Progress thread but if you do post here be sure to clearly state which pictures are WIP and which are the final product.

Here is my finished entry.
As you can see I have depicted an alternative ending, where Mordor wins. The photos, yet again, are not good but I hope they at least give you the idea of what I have done.
The pool started life as a Tommee Tippee baby cup. I cut the bottom off and added some realistic water to level it out, painted this and then went about the water effects and the two Orcs.
The tree was a twig I found and moulded the roots from milliput. A few tiny roots made up the tee branches.

the water looks very good. You can see where the orcs have disturbed it and the blood spray is very realistic. I might have chosen less bright colours for the orc tunics, but that's just a personal choice. Very well done.

My Achilles heel, photography. Trust me they are not as bright as they may appear. All are very grubby in real life with the blue of Imrahil really standing out like a beacon, that part I am very pleased with and just what I wanted, the last noble standing tall against the chaos that is about to fall on him.

Very, very nice Mally, all works really well. Personally i have used loads of bright colours on my Orcs, when you watch the ROTK bright red was used alot.

The diorama tells a story and i like it a great deal. Easily the best use of a Tommee Tippee cup i have ever seen, recycling at its best! I hope your child has grown out of it and your other half isn't searching the house for the lost cup!?

I look forward to seeing your next project, i know you mentioned it to me and i think its a great idea by the way, it will certainly keep you busy.

Great work Gandlaf, a very lively piece. The white tree probably won't suffer much (pretty dead already), but I do feel sorry for that lush grass, trampled by dirty orc feet - not to mention that massive troll.

Seeing how there aren't any other entries close to completion (judging by this thread, no idea what goes on behind the screens), I'll see if I can get an entry in myself. With just a few weeks to go and up against that great piece, I don't think I'll stand much of a chance, but at least there will be some competition! Found these two mostly unpainted figures, which should work well in a not-very-original,but-nice-nonetheless diorama:

(The Witch-king is just undercoated black, although he could be 95% finished judging by this pic. :P)

I'll be continueing (read: starting) my entry in just over 24 hours! With a week left and only 2.5 models to be painted (1 being mostly black, 0.5 being Frodo), I'm sure I'll manage. Scenic surroundings will probably be limited, but I've got little to no experience with that kind of stuff anyway, so that's probably for the best.

This sounds like a fun challenge. Too bad I didn't get to read about it until today. There's still time left though to enter! Let's see what I can find...
