Hey, i got the assualt on black reach box set a few days ago as a start to 40k, ive painted a few space marines before but no orks. so far ive painted the dredonaught and the ork boss and would love to hear what you guys think of them and how i could improve them. I've decided just to be boring and go with ultramarines.

Very nice. The weathering marks are very good, could just stand to be slightly darker, and the blue highlights are well-placed and not blobby like some I've seen. :yay:

On the Ork Warboss, I really like the black cloth. You painted it with highlights and yet still made it look like black cloth, something I have trouble with :)

The chapter I chose for my Space Marines was the Blood Swords. My favorite chapter is the Blood Angels, but I didn't want to scrape off all the arrows from the shoulder pads of the models, so I went with one of their secondary chapters.

I like your dreadnought. Looking back at mine, it seems a tad boring. I added no weathering or battle damage, and I left the right leg blank of any insignia. You've inspired me to add some more detail to my dreadnought! :D

I have only painted one ork, as the space marines and the rulebook were the key attractions for me in the set, but your Boss looks good too! :)

I really like the white helmets on the Terminators. Would only suggest a lighter highlight on the gold. 8)

A very nice job all-over! The skin is a real eye-catcher, but the banner, the cloth and in fact all the details look great aswell!!
Considering the picture here is like 750% of the real size, I'm sure the figure in real life must look wonderfull!!

They all look good, thepics are a bit blurred on the dread and the orc boss but the minis can still be seen to bea very good gaming quality, the termies I think could do with a little more highlight work the commander is the best for me, the gold on the bolter looks a tad thick in places, a good tip thin the bejeezus out of your paints especially the metals and you will get much smoother results.
It takes time to get the hang of using thinner paints but with practice you will get quality in your miniatures.

thanks for the comments tidoco i think ill defo give the terminators another highlight i sort of dulled them down with a asurmen blue wash because they looked too bright so have lost some of the highlight. i try to water my paints down starting out with thin paint but as i move through the model i tend to go back into bad habbits i must stop!

I take back my earlier comment about it needing a little more highlighting. I don't know what I was thinking, I guess I just wasn't looking at it right. Sorry that you have to sell him!
