Looking forward to seeing your Cairn Wraith Lord Hurin! :)

Well, finally finished assembling all three of eBob's spiders...think I'll give them the evening to let the green stuff/super glue combo completely setup before I try any re-positioning of the legs. In the meanwhile I'll work on painting up three unique bases for these creepy little freaks! At least I can now stop looking at them till tomorrow and let my arachnophobia settle down a wee bit.

Thanks guys! :)
I have the bases nearly finished for the spiders, the spiders themselves have been re-positioned to fit on their respective bases, but still need to be basecoated. Think I might have these guys completed by Sunday.

Well, I got the bases finished. The coloring was done similar to my other evil based models…dark brown earth with bleached/dead grass. Even the dead body (OOP eBob dead guy) I wanted to be done in a muted color palette as to not detract from the sculpt of the spider.

Amazing bases! 8) Really like the dark feel. Do you know the name of the dead grass?

Good job indeed, David! Very well painted! 8)

(Don't try them at home  )

BTW, did you apply a kind of white wash/drybrush? If you did, I think it works very well...

They look really cool! :D :yay: 8) How did you paint them? I've been thinking about picking up some Giant Spiders myself but don't know how to paint them and make them look realistic.

Great job on these Dave. I remember Bob showing me these ages ago and thought then they were pretty creepy.

Thanks guys, really glad you like 'em! :)
As for the painting, I used pretty much a wet blending technique. Each one was a little different, but basically started out with a dark brown and worked lighter browns in while the base color was still wet...finally added some highlights with one of my tiny brushes and a slight wash over the hairy areas and the green area on the one spider.
