Hello everyone! New member here and this is my first thread on this site. Please notify me if I did not go thru proper posting channels before I posted here, thanks.

So onto my actual topic, for the better part of my summer I have been looking at old pics of some Minas Tirith Soldiers I had painted awhile back and was on pinterest being amazed by some work of JMD scenery. I was very inspired by his Osgiliath ruins and buildings, So I tried to pick up the hobby of terrain building myself. Anyways for the better part of last month I started looking at a lot of reference pictures of others work and also kept re-watching the LOTR movies over and over for inspiration and started on a 2 1/2 foot x 3 foot board I may add onto this later possibly adding a bridge or the Dome of Stars, but for now I wanted to start with something simple.

Anyways I found a layout for a peninsula board that was designed by Brian Wells originally for a Mordhiem board. so I started with the layout and scoring the brick work.

Wow, very nice so far - Is all that brickwork just done into the surface of foam? Must have taken hours! :)

Hello and welcome!
This looks pretty cool. I hope you expand the board for more tactical options, and just for the sheer awesomeness :)
Keep us posted on your progress!

Thank you for all the positive feedback guys! Anyways yes all the brickwork is scored by hand, it may sound tedious but I find it very therapeutic haha. As far as expanding the board yes Eventually if I like the way this one comes out I plan on making 3 more boards one including lant ciryaber Bridge and the another that leads up to the Dome of Stars. It will be quite the challenge but I think it will be worth it in the end.

So as far as what I have manage to build is two buildings and the foundation for a third. Today I am hoping to start on the forth and fifth buildings which will incorporate a second story bridge leading over the entrance of the peninsula giving more access to cross for troop movement.

Sorry in advance for the sporadic posting, I'm only able to post 3 Img at a time so there may end up being 2-3 post of just picture haha.

It looks great so far, very promising indeed! Can't wait to see this progress. 8)
Timing is great, I've also started making an Osgiliath board recently, so any inspiration is always welcome.

This is absolutely stunning - I did think that it reminded me of a Mordheim project I'd found through Googling a while back.

Looking very nice! One suggestion - before you start painting, do it on a scrap piece that you have scored - just in case the color isn't right or it doesn't take, melts the foam, etc. Don't want to ruin what you have done by applying the wrong paint.

Haha I'm glad someone else spotted it, It was an Amazing board. Found the majority of images on pinterst, but could never really find any pics of it painted and completed. If you manage to find them please share.

Thank You Mapper 8) I may sometime in the future make a little tutorial for that, maybe in the modeling and terrain help thread. I know in the past I have ruined a majority of buildings because of different spray paints in the past. Most recently I've been just hand painting with non toxic acrylic paint, that seems to be working for single building projects. But I would like to speed up that process for this project. Any suggestions on a flat Black spray paint? Preferably one that is non-toxic.

Update time. Thank you everyone for the input and feedback! So I managed to get some downtime with the second story bridge and started on the third building. So the bridge is broken down right now but I will have a Improvised wooden plank that spans across the broken down area. I think for know I will leave it detachable incase I decide to not use it for a game.

Also the third building will be a Gondorian Hall of sorts which might make a good converted armory so I may try to include some weapon racks and barrels. Its going to look like a cathedral like structure with a broken down vaulted roof. Not sure if I should include some roofing tiles or just some leftover wooden beams from a burned out frame. I was trying to reference some osgiliath pics, and I cant seem to find any photos containing those specs let alone many building that had any roofs intact at all. ( Guess those Orcs knew how to preform a siege rather well...) Anyways any thought on this or advice how I should proceed with the roof would be great. Thanks Guys!
