Hello, I've been a Mordor player for over a decade. Its been my main army since I started my involvement in the Hobby. I'm going to re-paint my c. 150 orcs as most of them I acquired early on and my painting skills have greatly increased since then. I have enough Orcs to make at least 11 full boxed-based Warbands (4 shields, 4 spears, 2 bows, 2 two-handed weapons). I've come up ideas for 6 distinct groups of orcs, each with unique colors and emblems for shields and banners. Here they are: Barad-dur: 3 Warbands -Cloth: Brown and Black -Emblem: Red Eye These are the "classic" Mordor Orcs of the Red Eye Minas Morgul: 2 Warbands -Cloth: Green -Emblem: Tower of the Moon These Morgul Rats will be mainly paired with Grishnakh and Gorbag. The green cloth color connects with the green hue which emanates from Minas Morgul. The Morgul Host: 2 Warbands -Cloth: Red -Armor: Dark -Emblem: Witch-King These Orcs are to match the Morannon Orcs' paint scheme with the red cloth contrasting with the dark armor. I saw examples of these in BiGME 72. Cirith Ungol: 1 Warband -Cloth: Black and Gray -Armor: Dark -Skin & Hair: Dark -Emblem: Shelob These Orcs have the darkest pallet because they live up in the dark areas of the Mountains of Shadow. It is also so they blend with the Mordor Uruk-hai Dol Guldur: 2 Warbands -Cloth: Gray and Brown -Armor: Light -Skin & Hair: Pale Gray and Yellow -Emblem: The Necromancer I've based this paint scheme off the Gundabad Orcs Azog leads out of Dol Guldur to Erebor in The Hobbit films Angmar: 1 Warband -Cloth: Blue -Emblem: Witch-King or Ghosts These Orcs have a blue cloth color to tie in with the spectral hosts of Angmar Let me know what you guys think or if you have any suggestions. |

Hannanibal's orcs in his "Bad/misunderstood Guys" topic are pretty cool. Lighter colours, but really appealing. |
