Sorry if this thread has been made before, but me and Lorian, in our years of playing have found that although Sauron can be killed by wizards who can stun him, with just one weakness, and his ability to use might to influence the one ring and that Floi Stonehand (Name might be incorrect as I do not have the books on me right now) cannot use his ability to negate the one ring, and with his incredibly high stats and the ability to cast a spell every turn make him overpowered? I think so. Usually my opponent does not even bother doing 500 point matches because I use Sauron and (Sometimes) the Goblin Scribe when I am feeling evil. Just want to know other peoples thought on the question and any ways to kill him.

YEs, he is basically unkillable. However, that does not mean he can win. Most games require you to get objectives, cross the field, etc. He cannot do well in these scenarios. While he is strong in Lords of Battle, he insta looses Reconntoire, Hold Ground and Domination.

Unless it is a 500 point match and he just tanks the goblin scribe :p

The combo with the goblin scribe is easy to beat. As soon as you lose 2 or 3 of your reinforcement you will become broken, meaning the scribe runs and all you are left with is Sauron, also broken and taking courage tests every turn, eventually he'll double 1 that or die.

He shouldn't be allowed to use might for the one ring special rule. This would fix the profile instantly. Now the one ring upgrade is way to cheap.

Way back in 2003 I was in a hotel and tried to recreate the last desperate fight on Mt. Doom to kill some time. I wanted to see if the story could be recreated on the table top. I played both sides; Sauron vs Gil-Galad, Elendil, and Isildur. It plays really quickly – about 5 mins. I spent about 2 hours and could never get a win for Good. They would nearly always get Sauron to his last wound, but he kept making those 2+ saves. Now make no mistake, Sauron would have to take a lot of saves, but always made them. Not sure how the fight would go under the current rules, but it would probably be the same.

Then you just kill the Goblin scribe and the Goblins he summons, giving you VP for breaking the enemy and forcing Sauron to test for Courage.
