It means "Iron of Death" or "Wand of Death" and it was the sword of the Elf Lord Turin Turambar. With it he killed the Dragon Glaurung.

Correctomundo Dr Grant, your turn. Oh, and Gothmog, the reason it was on my mind is cause I had just cited it. Small world huh?

Hah, it's strange that I found the 'difficult one' far easier than almost all the others. I think I'm far more knowledgable about the real world stuff (authors/actors/publication dates etc.) than the in-world stuff (characters, timelines, places etc.) so thanks!

OK, here goes:

Who or what was Stybba?

Merry's grey and shaggy pony, which he got and rode in Rohan.

Just happened to have looked up any description of Master Meriadoc's mount when painting him two weeks ago for the monthly challenge! 8)

One downside to being right.. having to come up with a question of your own!

A related one this time: what is the history of Merry's silver horn?

It was dwarf-made, captured from the hoard of Scatha the Worm and brought from the North by Eorl the Young himself.
