Post subject:  Building my first Rohan force
Hi all,

This is my first post, and I'm looking for some feedback. I've recently come in to a host of models, and for the time being, I'm trying to build a halfway decent Rohan force out of what I've been given. I'm hoping you all can give me some points.

Here's my list:

    12 bows
    9 spears
    10 swords
    3 axes
    Theodin
    Boromir
    Aragorn
    Gamling

I'm not expecting to be competitive or anything like that, but I would like to learn the game on these guys and perhaps not get totally stomped along the way, heh.

Since the game utilizes the warband system for list building and deployment you'll have to start there. Each hero from give list can lead up to 12 warriors and deploy with them on the field. I would advise you to break up your Rohan units into two blocks behind Gamling and Theodin with your troops being 4 spear/5 spear 4 swords/3 swords and 4 bows in each. Aragorn and Boromir will have to deploy together from the Fellowship list which does not have any troops of its own but whose heroes can join each others warbands. What the points value of this list would be I do not know off the top of my head and it would depend upon the wargear you get for the heroes as well. I would doubt that it would be more than 500pts even if you bough everything anyway. Still it makes for a nice enough starting force. Do you have anyone in your area that plays you you can barrow a rule book from?

You'll find that unfortunately the list you have is not a particularly competitive one, but it is more than sufficient to learn the game with. Rohan excels as a mounted force, with strong heroes in Eomer and Erkenbrand, while Gamling and Theoden are rather weak for their points. Hopefully this will be corrected in the next rules update!
