For Star Wars Hoth, I used a different approach on the plastic WOTC bases. Mix up 1:1:1 shaving cream, white glue, and baking soda and apply it to the base to dry. It makes great deep snow that will dissolve in warm water when you are done. I probably did 200 Minis one night for a Con game.

My DUST, Star Wars Legions Hoth, and and a few other armies all gave permanent snow bases.

The snow bases on the Dol Guldur figures work really well. Great contrast with the dark paint scheme on the figures.

Interesting idea, I have not seen that recipe before. Does it set hard?

It's not hard, but maybe like a tough marshmallow. Pretty durable if you don't get it wet. It's great as an easily removable snow cover.
