In a scenario where you get points for killing an enemy leader, do they count as dead for victory points purposes if they flee the board after failing a courage test? (possibly without losing any wounds or fate)

I checked the faqs but did not see this come up. I can't remember the last time this was an issue for me so I don't remember any of the arguments one way or the other. Going by the book (pg. 54), which says the model is removed "as if it lost its last wound" I am not totally sure. The wording clearly intends for the model to be removed as a casualty in the same fashion as if it were slain normally, however, '"as if" can be a strange phrase. I would argue that it would count for victory points for killing the leader since it has left the field as a casualty even though your models did not actually slay it normally.

Then again, I would not think that the leader being killed by the environment (falling or drowning) would give you the VPs since you did not kill it or cause that to happen in any way.

Thanks ... that sounds a sensible approach to me.
