I like it! You do an amazing job of painting figures so quickly!

Very nice mate :) Some critique though, I reckon his eyes are a little on the large side, and what about the embroidery? Anyways looking forward to the next update mate.

wow, that is a bright white! great painting there, i especially like the colouring of the staff - very original. the only probably i have with it is the model itself - something about it grates on me. i think it is the fact that, although he is in an action pose, there isn't really any energy there, especially when you compare it to the orthanc version, which is bursting with energy.

The eyes are a little bit wonky, but then, I just need more practise painting eyes. I'm more of a 'Make sure it's face is covered by a tin hit' type painter. They look so much better IRL, and from 4ft away, well, he looks a bit like a ghost.

And if by embroidery you mean his belt, I'm tempted just to leave it as is for contrast. There are a few bits on the robes I wouldn't mind tidying up, but I fear my hand isn't steady enough for the job.

Wait, what does that mean?

Does it mean nice quality painting as opposed to the usual drivel...

or

It's nice to see you painting again, it is much better than having you stalk the forum, being a curmudgeonly old git, casting disparaging remarks at all and sundry?

The robes and cloak look really good, but the eyes are a tad to big, otherwise great paintjob

It was meant as the less insulting one. I'll leave it up to you to make up your mind about what IS the less insulting one.

another great update. i agree about him being the best saruman sculpt. i love the originality with the staff too. it's nice to see someone doing something different. as for the eyes, i would kill to be able to paint eyes HALF as good as that!!

Well, considering there are still 2 wizards, 6 Warg Riders and countless Elves still to do, I'd say no...

Unfortunately, work is getting the better of me, and I'm not in the mood for dealing with Elves first thing in the morning when I've spent the entire night dealing with idiots.

Still, I have a week's holiday booked for November, hopefully I can get some done then. I really need to get a move on to get this finished by the end of the year...

We want all models painted and scenarios played and reported with pics by the end of the year!

Wow very nice so far. :D

I believe you should think yourself lucky though. I am currently churning through 4. Yes 4. Boxes of wood elves.

Btw what colour did you paint Cirions cloak? I am looking for that exact purple colour to paint a dragon. (Might be a WIP thread just for that. )[/quote]

If you mean Ciridan, the robes and cloak were done Regal Blue and Hormogaunt Purple, then both were given a wash with the new Blue wash. Job done.

Forgive me Dark Lord, for I have sinned. It has been a very short space of time since my last transgression...

Arise thread. Linger not on the depths of page 4.

OK. I did a bad thing. A very bad thing. Of which I am truly ashamed...

It might be -

1. Raising a thread that is well over 18 months old...

2. Neglecting to actually finish this in good time...

3. Depriving you lot of my comedic wit...

4. Depriving you lot of my rushed paintjobs...

5. All of the above.

But no. My greatest sin has been allowing this to die, and having so many new members who have yet to learn of the warm embrace of Elf hatred. I'm sorry. Truly I am. So, without further ado, let the vitriolic outbursts continue.

So, where were we?

A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far aw... Nope, wrong film. Ages ago, I had a plan. A plan of grand designs. To collect, build and paint every model for every sourcebook. Fall of the Necromancer was the starting point. And for a while, the finishing point too.

Well, no longer. With the completion of my To9G quota for the month, I turned my attention back to the pointy-ear, tree-hugging, gender-bending Elves staring at me accusingly, and forced myself to apply the brush to them. Only because the lash was out of reach and I couldn't be bothered moving to get it.

So, this morning has been a frenzy of, well, cursing and swearing, and gnashing of teeth, thoughts of taking my own life. I even sent Mr.s G out of the room so that she didn't see my secret shame.

Yes. I admit it. I painted some Elves. 14 of them to be precise. Oooooh, the shame.

I had 12 Wood Elves nearly done, along with the hermaphrodite Banner carrier, so they were quick enough to finish off, especially as I treated them to a little Devlan Mud bath. Yeah, take that pansies, let's see how you keep those robes clean now... Ahem. And that old codger, Cirdan, well, I figured he would be quick enough to complete, so, and it pains me to say this, got a lot of attention. And not of the torture and mutilation kind... I don't recall ever doing 4 layers on any models face. Friggin Elves. Still have to add grass to the bases.

So, where does that leave me now? Well, still knee deep in Elves unfortunately. And none of them are dead. Yet.

The remaining FotN minis.

Characters and Command

Image

High Elf Spearmen

Image

High Elf Archers

Image

High Elf Swordsmen

Image

Two Wizards and a pointy-eared Prince

Image

And finally, some Evil models. 6 Warg Riders. A little something to keep my black heart focused on the task at hand.

So, hopefully, now that I've gotten the horrible plastic Wood Elves out of the way, I can move forward. Here's hoping. Then I'll never have to paint another bloody Elf ever again. until the next Elf-loving supplement...

Nice painting, John, although, it is a bit hard to see the detail of Cirdan's face.

:D :yay: It has started again.

Those wood elves don't look too bad to me, in fact they are actually pretty good! I like the wash on them.
