Thanks for all the nice words guys, they're appreciated! Nothing new really for now, just doing some layers on some Elves/Easterlings. I'll keep you guys updated!

I can't see the pictures anymore. But I remember seeing your dwarf conversion on there and he was coming along good. I also thought about Hadhod from third age when I saw it, the last helm he gets has that look to it. Will be nice to see painted up.

Are you going to cover up the thing holding up the spider queen? It's a brilliant model but the thing kind of shatters the illusion. Maybe make it a tree stump?

@Sithous: can you see the pictures again? Cause I can, not sure if something's wrong with photobucket.
Also, you and Halbarad-king are both correct, it is supposed to look like Hadhod from TTA video game. I also decided to give him the hammer you get in Helm's Deep.
@Sticky Fingersss: I will not cover it up. I don't really mind it that much. Looking from above or on the table, the metal wire isn't that very visible anyway. Besides, I tried to cover it up, had some ideas, but it looked.. 'odd'. the space between the items and the model itself was too narrow and didn't look right to me.

I've been feeling sick the last couple of days, only recovered today. I have been working on some Galadhrim and also on lady Galadriel. I found it really hard to paint the white robes as I never painted them before. Yet, I think I did well on the model. Pictures will be uploaded asap!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
Except for Wouter, who should motivate me instead of pushing me down with his little 'facts' :P

Anyway, here are some better pictures from the models yesterday and also a little 'diorama' I've been working on of two Uruk sappers. Enjoy!

Post subject:  Re: Eaothen's Khazad-Dum WIP

Lately I have been working on some random models, including Elves, Dwarfs and others... see my other WIP's for those.

I always put my progress in this WIP, although it says 'Khazad-Dum', so I decided to go for a separate one for each army/faction, or just random stuff.

Bringing back the Dwarfs, I introduce you to 3 models I have been working on over the past few days. These are: The king and his champion and Hadhod who was converted from an old Gimli model.

I might add some more armour to the latter to give him more of a heavy armoured look. Note: he's still a WIP paintingwise. I might come up with houserules for him, but for now, he shall be a captain. Any suggestions on houserules are welcome though!

PS: sorry for the dark colours, somehow I could not edit all pictures on photobucket. Some got made lighter, whilst the others stayed the same.

I do like those little details on the bases. The old scripts and things.
How'd you do them?

Author:  Eaothen-the-brave [ Wed Jan 21, 2015 8:23 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Eaothen's Khazad-Dum WIP

@Ororpher: the pages are really easy to do. Take a nice piece of paper, I used one to print on for it has no lines. Cut some rectangular 'page' forms out and glue them to your base. After that you take thin brush and scribble some lines on the pages.

Looking at some pictures of the Chamber of Mazarbul, the pages are worn from aging. I decided to paint the pages with bleached bone now, give it a brown wash and then do the scribbled lines. This gives it a more worn look. I will take some pictures later to show you.

o, i didn't think u made it that easy :) i tought u sculpted them on!

Post subject:  Re: Eaothen's Khazad-Dum WIP

Not at all my friend. Sculpting them would make them too thick IMO.
Also, if you decide on the normal, clear white pages, do it after painting your model and cut out the pages on a piece of paper. If you paint them whilst painting your model, it might get a bit thick in the end due to all layers of paint you need to get back to white (if you prime your models black that is)

Just finished my last exam, once home I will take a picture of the worn pages to show you the difference.
