Great stuff! The LED lighting gives it a very cinematic feel.
One suggestion on the 'flatness' of the main area. OK, for X-wing it does need to be reasonably even to allow movement templates to be used properly. But there is nothing to stop you from having a few loose outcrops on separate bases that can be placed wherever you like so each game can have a little variation.
And if someone comes up with AAA rules (flak), then scratch build some guns to defend the base - I have a feeling I saw some mention of this on X-Wing forums in the past couple of months.

Great board. Especially the LEDs, a big fan of them I am.

However, what game system/miniatures are these? I know they're Star Wars (big fan), but haven't seen these before :-/

This past weekend I ran my Asteroid Buster game at Cold Wars 2014 in Lancaster PA, USA. I had 8 players with a mix of rookies, veterans, kids and adults. I think fun was had by all.

LED lit Hanger Bay. Caters and rock outcroppings for scenic effect. Also my friend sculpted up and cast some turrets for me.

I am resisting the urge to take up this game. My wallet is simply not up to the challenge of collecting two miniature ranges. You are making it very difficult for me.

Sorry I was unable to make it to Lancaster for the convention but thanks so much for making it known to me of conventions in my area! Are you planning to run any games in the summer and fall conventions?

I will be going to the Summer convention Historicon in Fredicksburg VA. I might run the same battle again.

Cool, do you know when the list of games will be released for the summer convention?

That is such an inspiring idea, I love it! It's so playable with the flat surface, yet it has a great textured look and feel to the whole thing. The LED lit hangar bays and turrets add a superb dimension. Stunning.

Can I use this idea to make my own version of this table to offer as a prize at the next Little Wars Adelaide?

Steal as much as you want.

One of the players suggested a build variant that would be cheaper and easier to build.

You play on a normal space map with lots of floating asteroids, but on one edge, you have the asteroid with the hanger bays. So you only need to represent a wall of the asteroid.

Cheers, Xin

You could do a variation on this - the Death Star surface instead of the asteroid surface, either as the playing table or the 'wall' with the hangars. And instead of asteroids, have components for the second Death Star floating around as hazards.
Now there's a thought - have the asteroids or whatever moving in the game as well - roll for random direction at the start, mark it and then it carries on at constant speed until it disappears off table or hits/is hit by something, then reroll for new random direction.

Nice idea with the asteroids - that'd work brilliantly. The Deathstar would look spectacular but would take months to build.

Well now you inspired me for my next X-Wing game board.

Jump to 7:08 in the video. How about that for a game board?

No, I'm not out of control,
