Post subject:  Flowers for bases
A common flower in wedding bouquets and other flower arrangements is Baby's Breath or Gypsophila. We were getting ready to throw out some old arrangements when I looked a little closer at the Baby's Breath and immediately took some.

Added some to my window sill project and kept some for either adding to elvish bases or to use as Simbelmynë, or Evermind, to put on the grave mounds of the Kings of Rohan.

Just thought I would share.

Soak them in diluted Matte Medium to keep them from drying out. I use all sorts of flowers that I pick up at the gardening center. Good tip.

PVA and Matt medium can be used but Glycerin will keep them soft. I have some preserved flowers that are near 40 years old.They were a wedding present.That is the only reason I kept them and the only reason I know how old they are.. Dust is an issue with something like dried flowers.

I usually cut the flowers off the stems of yarow to make trees.Yarrow stems are more suited to dioramas than terrain.

Yep, really need to get some fresh ones to preserve, instead of ones getting ready to be thrown out. Kept the stems on these (pushed an awl into the plaster and glued them in) but would take the stem off for bases and gaming terrain.

Very interesting to know about these flowers and hope I can find unique flowers for decorating my wedding venue. We have booked one of grand venues and hope to find a reputed San Francisco Florist to get fresh and affordable flowers.

Baby's breath grows wild here, it's actually a government recognized weed. In the summer, when it's in bloom, it stinks something fierce.

Nice to know how to preserve it though, thanks guys.
